Speedy deletion nomination of D.King Gallery
editHello JEric Miller,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged D.King Gallery for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Although I am somewhat new to Wikipedia, I don't understand why someone else is able to make a unilateral decision about a page I created, who that person is, and why I have no say in it. In terms of the policies cited, the subject, Averell Smith, is a noted figure in Democratic politics who has been profiled by the Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune, The San Francisco Chronicle, the LA Times, the Nation and the New Republic, several of which sources I cited on the page I created. He was the featured topic in several of those articles.
How do I contest the speedy deletion?

edit Hello, I'm Deb. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.
Hello, JEric Miller. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.Deb (talk) 09:50, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
Update: Your draft is now at Draft:Averell Smith. Please continue to work on it. Note that all the claims within it need to be sourced. All the best with it! -- Hoary (talk) 00:30, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
- Also, per Deb's note, if you have a personal or business relationship of any sort with "Ace" that should be disclosed on the Talk page of the article as a COI (conflict of interest). If you are being paid or compensated in any way, including working for, consulting for..."Ace", that MUST be declared on the Talk page of the article. David notMD (talk) 00:18, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
- The issue here is one of style. From your contributions, I see that you have also created an article about Hyde Street Studios. Separate from the issue of notability, the article has been templated at the top with a criticism that it reads too much like advertising (ditto Dennis King). I suggest you peruse articles about living people to get an idea of accepted style. Meanwhile, I deleted the laudatory stuff from the draft Averill article, but it still needs a slew of citations to support the factual statements. David notMD (talk) 00:27, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
