Peer review answer
editHi Jessica !
Thank you for your very detailed and intense peer-review! It helps a lot in improving the article!
Here are some answers on your suggestions:
- simplify the first statement: it was mentioned also by another student, and I totally agree. I have rephrased it;
- talk about the different definitions that have been proposed for various reasons. Specifically, what is the actual idea behind debt? Is it monetizing nature?: I will certainly add a section defining key terms before moving on to the Calculations section. Very relevant indeed;
- “Men in particular through industrialization have viewed themselves as separate from nature and further, they view nature as a tool to profit from, and continually use and abuse without consequences.”: I did not write this part, most of the abstract was already there and I did not corrected it yet. So I agree with your point, it brings a personal opinion here and I have removed it. I have added more details instead;
- multiple definitions of ecological debt and the complexities with choosing one: I am thinking of adding a section about this or integrate it in the "Political dimension". I will see but good point;
- I think you need to further define some terms that you’ve used, Historical responsibility: I don't see where this combination of words is but maybe you are talking about 'historical accountability'? If so, I am adding more definition anyway;
- separate section on “climate debt”: I am not sure yet if I will create a whole new section or if this could be incorporated somewhere, but great suggestion;
- Damon should be Matthews: stupid error, my bad! Thank you for that !
Thanks a lot !
