creating an article about yourself

edit

Hi, Jack! I saw your question at Teahouse.

What we need to see to prove notability are your clippings. Do you have a collection?

The minimum is at least three articles in independent reliable sources -- books, magazines, newspapers -- and preferably national or at least regional, not just local coverage. Local notability isn't sufficient. And the coverage needs to be significant -- that is, these articles are about or primarily about you or talk about you at length, not just mentioning you or quoting you.

That said, realize that if you are notable enough, you will have zero control over an article about you. Anything negative will be covered, too, and you won't be able to remove it. Having an article about you in Wikipedia is a double-edged sword. —valereee (talk) 19:43, 14 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I turned the book mention into a ref. However, this ref does not contribute to establishing notability, because it is what a person did, not ABOUT the person. David notMD (talk) 00:19, 15 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
hello Jack. I also saw your question at the Teahouse. I made a few small edits to your userspace draft; I hope that is OK. As valereee says, we need articles or book entries that talk about you. Were you interviewed on TV, or did someone write an article about you in an newspaper or magazine? Let us know and perhaps we can help track down the item. without these "sources" it's not possible ot have an article here. Thanks. --- Possibly (talk) 02:31, 15 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
