What is My Name

You don't know me but you think you do and you should. You've never seen my face when I've looked in your direction. You wouldn't like me if we met, you'd think I'm too full of myself. I'm a hermit, a lurker, a mirage of someone’s shadow and a guest in some of your dreams. I appear in your mind every so often when you're in your deepest depths of solitude sleep and whisper the truth. I sit in lie waiting patiently for my turn on your movie set. I catch you when you fall, I save you when you're drowning, I soar with you when you fly, I cry with you when you lie. I remind you every so often what your father taught you, but you listen more to your dogs & cats. I'm as light as a feather or the weight of the world, you feel me in your gut, your heart or your head depending on what you drank. You look for me on occasion high and low when you're in a pickle and live in a barrel the rest of the time. I'm a mirror image, an invisible sensation and a bird in flight with this valuable message for you. Just when all else fails and nothing seems right, a stroke of clarity shines its light.
