Question about Article Wizard
If you submit an article through Article Wizard does it immediately post to Wikipedia or does it become part of WP:AFC and get vetted?
Thx! SusanChana (talk) 14:22, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
- @SusanChana: It depends. If the wizard thinks the article is suitable for immediate inclusion, it will give you a choice where you want to create it. Otherwise, it will force you to create it as a draft. Jackmcbarn (talk) 19:02, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Book talk:Mercedes Benz
For some strange reason Book talk:Mercedes Benz is still showing up in the maintenance list Articles With Multiple Dablinks. I do not know if that is a failure of the DPL-bot or that something went wrong when you deleted that thingy. Could you take a look at it? Thanks in advance. Newbie help request
Hello Jackmcbarn,
I'm a bit of a newbie here on Wikipedia and therefore am not completely familiar with the formality of how things are done here. I inadvertently found myself in a so-called editing war and when I was notified of this, I refrained from making anymore edits immediately (though I understand I can resume after 24 hours). I'm writing to you now because I suspect the same person may be using more than one account. I won't name any names just yet because the evidence admittedly isn't infallible but it's still quite compelling in my opinion. Both accounts have large gaps in their edit history and both have mysteriously appeared on the talk pages of two different articles (always one after the other) I have made edits to over the past few days (London and the French language). The two accounts in question also have some overlap in their fields of interest (i.e. there seems to be a lot of talk about Israel on both pages). Coincidence? I'm not so sure. My question to you is, would it be worth making a formal complaint and is the evidence I have given you here even enough to justify such a complaint? Thank you for your help. NorthernFactoid (talk) 02:54, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) @NorthernFactoid: If a new editor makes questionable edits on one article then many editors will glance over the editor's other edits. As for WP:3RR, note that "The rule is not an entitlement to revert a page a specific number of times." Your edit on London has no support so far on the talk page. --NeilN talk to me 03:04, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
- @NeilN: Excuse me? I'm not talking about my edits to London here. This has nothing to do with 'many editors glancing over the editor's other edits.' Get with it. NorthernFactoid (talk) 03:10, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
- @NorthernFactoid: You wrote: "...two different articles I have made edits to over the past few days (London and the French language)". People who post to your talk page about one issue will likely have your talk page on their watchlists and might look at what is happening when people post to your talk page about other issues. By the way, pings won't work if you add signatures after your initial post. A ping and a signature have to be in a single edit for it to work. --NeilN talk to me 03:25, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
- @NeilN: I'm talking about potential sock puppetry here. One person, two different accounts. Please don't distract from the topic at hand (but thanks for the ping tip) NorthernFactoid (talk) 03:30, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
- Talk page stalker. Then i suggest you visit WP:SPI and file a complaint. I think you are overreacting here, frankly. WP:AGF. I would honestly suggest you engage on the relevant talk pages first. Create a dialogue, and seek consensus on the issues. SPA allegations are not minor matters. Regards Irondome (talk) 03:58, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Requesting view/help for 2 edit-filter related bugs on phabricator
Hi,
Often I have to work on mr-wikipedia filters. Earlier resolution of two bugs namely T21565 and T48773 is likely to be helpful for our project.
In T21565 edit filters can track file uploads they can track comments of files but can not track upload and comments together.
About T48773 I suppose wikimedia software/search works properly about unicode word borders but unfortunately edit filter has not been able to do it till now.
I do not know if at all we can do some thing to get it expedited in resolving.
Thanks and rgds
Questions
As one involved in SPIs, can you answer the following questions please.
1. If a checkuser spontaneously blocks a named account as a sock, with no SPI and no other discussion at all, should the blocked account be tagged as "confirmed" or as "suspected"?
2. Should a normal administrator (non-checkuser) blocking a named account ever tag it as "confirmed" when there has been no SPI and no checkuser involvement? 94.196.210.161 (talk) 22:08, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Coords (again!)
@Frietjes: has made changes to {{infobox settlement}} and {{infobox airport}} (among others maybe), allowing coords to be fetched direct from wikidata. This is fine, but the problem is that the coords saved on WD don't have any arcseconds, but the returned / displayed coords do, imputing a precision that isn't there (and not wanted to be there). What can be done? -- Unbuttered parsnip (talk) mytime= Sat 15:21, wikitime= 07:21, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
- User:Unbuttered Parsnip, the problem is that the lat/long import from wikidata doesn't round when converting from dms to dec, so we cannot infer the dms precision from the number. I just refactored {{geobox coor}} to use module:geobox coor which has a hack to round the imported numbers if lats == longs == 0. the better fix would be to have the module that converts the dms to dec not return excessively precise numbers. once we have that, I can remove the hack from module:geobox coor. Frietjes (talk) 16:21, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
- That's interesting because my {{ParseWDCoords}} doesn't receive any arcseconds when none had been input. So somewhere inside WD it knows the precision, it just isn't telling you! -- Unbuttered parsnip (talk) mytime= Sun 07:02, wikitime= 23:02, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

WTF YOU DELETE MY ARTICLE UR A BASTARD!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheEvilInThisWorld (talk • contribs) 19:14, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
- @TheEvilInThisWorld: First of all, please use a more civil tone when talking to other users. Your article was deleted because you copied its content from [125]. Since that site only allows non-commercial use of its content, copying it here is a copyright violation. Jackmcbarn (talk) 19:17, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
Sorry, just trying to get a page up here...it was first deleted as a hoax(fail) and then for the reason you deleted it.TheEvilInThisWorld (talk) 19:26, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
Support request with team editing experiment project
Dear tech ambassadors, instead of spamming the Village Pump of each Wikipedia about my tiny project proposal for researching team editing (see here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IdeaLab/Research_team_editing), I have decided to leave to your own discretion if the matter is relevant enough to inform a wider audience already. I would appreciate if you could appraise if the Wikipedia community you are more familiar with could have interest in testing group editing "on their own grounds" and with their own guidance. In a nutshell: it consists in editing pages as a group instead of as an individual. This social experiment might involve redefining some aspects of the workflow we are all used to, with the hope of creating a more friendly and collaborative environment since editing under a group umbrella creates less social exposure than traditional "individual editing". I send you this message also as a proof that the Inspire Campaign is already gearing up. As said I would appreciate of *you* just a comment on the talk page/endorsement of my project noting your general perception about the idea. Nothing else. Your contribution helps to shape the future! (which I hope it will be very bright, with colors, and Wikipedia everywhere) Regards from User:Micru on meta.
Edit Request on Titanic Page
Hi I noticed you (or a robot you built) removed my duplicate Edit Request. Thanks, I was unsure on how to or if to delete it. However, I am wondering when the request will be seen to as the issues raised are quite distinct. While the issue about the antena may be a bit niggly, the issue about the 2 transmitters and the silent room is a large error and goes against material in other parts of Wikipedia as well as outside references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.198.145.187 (talk) 20:13, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
- It was actually Mlpearc who removed it. You should ask him about it. Jackmcbarn (talk) 21:00, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
- @124.198.145.187: There is no reason to duplicate an edit request, the original one will be processed at some point, posting a second time will not change that. Mlpearc (open channel) 00:37, 1 May 2015 (UTC)

Just FYI
I'm currently engaged in an email discussion with Ikramilluminati in regards to his block. I have explained Wikipedia's NPOV policies to him, and am awaiting a reply; if he shows sufficient understanding and acceptance of these policies then I'm minded to unblock his account (with a degree of monitoring). If you've a major objection, or if you feel that I'm not in possession of all the relevant facts, please let me know. All the best, Yunshui 雲水 09:12, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Yunshui: Especially after looking at his UTRS request, I think that if unblocked, he'd just resume making exactly the same kind of edits. I don't see him becoming a constructive editor, but if you do think it's likely, then I'd have no objections to you unblocking. Jackmcbarn (talk) 15:25, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- I'm... undecided, at the moment. I'm waiting to see what he comes back with. I'll let you know if I come down on the side of unblocking him. Cheers, Yunshui 雲水 17:01, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
