False edit summaries

edit

Hello. Earlier today you made two edits, in which your edit summaries were highly misleading. This edit was described as "Fixed typo", when you actually removed sourced information about the lack of voter registration. In this edit you claimed you had "Removed uncited sentences", yet one of the sentences you removed had a citation. In both cases the information you removed was somewhat negative towards the referendum. Please be aware that editors are expected to upload a neutral point of view when editing. Thanks, Number 57 15:16, 20 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Number 57: Hi, thank you for your feedback. I will be more clear with future edit summaries. Jacob300 (talk) 16:59, 20 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Praxidicae, thank you for your message. I incorrectly tagged the pages for a "speedy deletion" instead of a "proposed deletion" since they lack significant coverage in sources. Jacob300 (talk) 21:55, 29 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Isaaq genocide into Somali National Movement. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 15:31, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Diannaa: Hi, thank you for your feedback and for letting me know about this practice. I will ensure to take this on in my future contributions. Jacob300 (talk) 19:00, 17 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Somali National Movement, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Issa. Editor Warring Warning

edit

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

April 2021

edit

Hi it appears that you recently started to revert sourced content from the Badhan article. You are also vandalising [1],[2] I’m just here to say you can always discuss before you revert, user shirshore is actually having a hard time building this encyclopaedia because you constantly keep reverting his edits and call it a stable version. You keep on claiming that every edit Dabaqabad does is perfect and I think that this should stop. If you disagree with something please discuss, Cheers: Rashicy (talk) 10:14, 8 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Rashicy:, thank you for your message.
I have reverted the Badhan article to that of Yamaguchi先生. Large swathes of the article were unsourced. Please see my entry on the talk page of the article in question. This does not equate to vandalism, please feel free to reintroduce material to the article with sources.
Also can you please point out where my vandalism of Said Abdullahi Dani? I reverted an edit which claimed that person the article is about died in Israel. Evidently, vandalism and untrue.
Finally, please point out where I have reverted Shirshore's edits without a reason? I would also be keen to know how you are also aware of this editor "having a hard time building this encyclopaedia".
Many thanks Jacob300 (talk) 17:07, 8 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey Jacob you asked how you are giving this user a hard time to build an encyclopaedia the user keeps on begging and is pleading for you to stop. Now the Abdullahi Sanj page never said he was born in Israel, in fact it said that he was born in Zanzibar a place not to far from Mogadishu or as I call it Xamar. You keep on reverting other users edits and restore it to Dabaqad’s version. In your edit summary you note that your fixing it up. I hope you can hear where I’m coming from thanks: Rashicy (talk) 22:45, 8 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Rashicy:, thank you for your message.
In regards to my edit on Said Abdullahi Dani, please reference where I vandalised. There is no basis to your claim. Furthermore, please show where I reverted Shirshore at all on this article.
Additionally, how are you aware of Shirshore "having a hard time building this encyclopaedia"? He has not posted on my talkpage nor on any of the talk pages of the articles you have mentioned.
Regards Jacob300 (talk) 17:37, 12 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Jacob300: Thanks for responding. You claim you did not vandalise the Said Cabdullahi Dani article however you removed content and replaced it with original info, yiu even didn’t leave a hold reason on your edit summary. You continue to follow Shirshore on the Badhan article this user pleads for you to stop reverting his edits and from what I’m seeing this user is struggling to build this encyclopaedia because of you.[3] Cheers: Rashicy (talk) 10:06, 13 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Rashicy:,
Please show where I vandalised Said Abdullahi Dani. You are making bold unsubstantiated claims.
Also, I have responded to your comment on the Badhan article above. It's in bad faith to suggest I am following around Shirshore to undo his edits and you have provided zero evidence for this. You are also yet to answer my question of how you know this user is "struggling to build this encyclopaedia". It is strange to see you speak on behalf of another user.
Regards Jacob300 (talk) 11:30, 13 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi I have came to answer you question, this user is inferring that he has a hard time by pleading for you to stop and from MY perspective you keep on ignoring him thanks: Rashicy (talk) 00:33, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Rashicy:,
Again, please show where Shirshore has "inferred" that he has having hard time because of myself. Also, where he has "pleaded" for me to stop (and exactly what this is referring to).

[4] here this is where Shirshire is really getting annoyed at you if you read his Edit summary you would know that this user is actually getting tired and annoyed, you provided no reason and reverted all of his edits, this user was actually trying to improve the page. Reliable source?

Sources are reliable

edit

Hiiran is a reliable source a one of the most famous Somali news websites why did you remove the source ? And revert it. If you carry on reverting I will just contact a Wikipedia administrator to fix this permanently. Cayn Historian (talk) 22:34, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Cayn Historian:,

Thank you for your message. "Hiiran" seems to be a tabloid news site at best, and is unlikely to meet WP:Reliability requirements. Please feel free to re-add content with a reliable source cited.

Many thanks Jacob300 (talk) 15:09, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hiiran has interviewed presidents and prime ministers of Somalia and is not a tabloid. Who made you the reliability checker and decide what is reliable or not ? It’s definitely reliable and it’s also the most viewed Somali newspaper/site. If you carry on revoking my edits I’ll just have to contact an administrator. Cayn Historian (talk) 16:01, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

“Hiiraan remains one of the most reliable news sites in the Somali media landscape. Hiiraan is regularly citied in academia, books and international media. Hiiraan website also hosts advertisements for international bodies, government agencies and NGOs” Hiiran online is one of the most reputable Somali news websites. If you carry on reverting my edits I’ll have an administrator fix this permanently. Going through your edit history you seem to be someone from Somaliland just focus on that instead of changing what doesn’t concern you. Khatumo has left the Somaliland agreement and is an part of Somalia. If you carry on reverting this edit I’ll have no choice but to contact an administrator. Cayn Historian (talk) 16:13, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Cayn Historian:,

As mentioned previously, Hiiraan is akin to a tabloid site and is not a reliable source. I have added an unreliable source tag to your addition on the page. You are more than welcome to replace this citation with a reliable and verified source.

Many thanks Jacob300 (talk) 18:08, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

According to Tabloid (newspaper format), tabloids' articles are "sensational crime stories, astrology, celebrity gossip and television," but I couldn't find any of those articles. Why do you consider Hiiran to be a tabloid?--Freetrashbox (talk) 10:51, 11 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Just thought to put my two cents into this since I recently reverted the Khaatumo article:

@Cayn Historian: did not cite a reliable source that supported what he put in. The article that he cited [5] is based on this tweet [6] which is unverified (and quite frankly I very much doubt that Twitter account is the official Khaatumo Twitter account to begin with). I also couldn't find any reliable source to back this either, with other news sites (especially Somali ones) being mute on this.

I do not know about whether Hiiraan is in fact a tabloid site or not, but the fact that it seems to be the only news site to report this (even tabloid sites that are pro-Khatuumo like Khaatumonews24 has not reported on this supposed "exit" from the Aynabo agreement [7]) seems fishy.

It is important to cite reliable sources to whatever content that you add, and unless you can convince the editors present here that there is in fact a reliable source reporting on this the best course of action would be to uphold the stable version of the article.

Many thanks, Dabaqabad (talk) 22:01, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Dabaqabad: The Hiiraan article does not seem to mention the source of the information. Can you prove that this article was written based on a tweet[6]?--Freetrashbox (talk) 10:56, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Freetrashbox: As I explained earlier no other source has reported on this supposed exit from the Aynabo agreement. The press release in that article is directly taken from this tweet made by an account purporting to be the official account of the Khaatumo "government" ([8]) and after. The smoking gun is Hiiraan Online's official Twitter account tweeting the article itself ([9]), further strengthening the notion that the article is based on that tweet. Dabaqabad (talk) 18:08, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Dabaqabad: Why does the fact that Hiiraan has a twitter account prove that Hiiraan quoted the "official Khaatumo Twitter account"?--Freetrashbox (talk) 20:11, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hiiraan is the most reliable Somali news site this is not a discussion or a debate. As said previously if you continue to revert the changes made will contact an administrator to fix this permanently and I have also began reviewing everything you edit. Cayn Historian (talk) 10:12, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

The Acting President of Khaatumo spoke about the exit of Khaatumo from Somaliland agreement and many Khaatumo websites. Hiiraan is an impartial Somali news website and used as academic evidence for papers by researchers around the world. Cayn Historian (talk) 10:16, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

“Hiiraan remains one of the most reliable news sites in the Somali media landscape. Hiiraan is regularly citied in academia, books and international media. Hiiraan website also hosts advertisements for international bodies, government agencies and NGOs” You two seem like two secessionists who aren’t content that Khatumo has exited the Somaliland agreement. I’ve now contacted an administrator who an expert in Somalia affairs all of your edits will also be reverted because of this bias you display. Cayn Historian (talk) 10:26, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Cayn Historian: In Wikipedia discussions, it is not allowed to attack an individual's political or social position by assigning, such as "secessionists". See WP:NPA.--Freetrashbox (talk) 11:35, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

In Wikipedia it is also not good to avoid facts referring to Hiiraan as a tabloid when it is used in academic papers. I’ve escalated this matter to an administrator as you guys have reverted this several times. Cayn Historian (talk) 23:54, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your summary ("stable version")

edit

You often use "stable version" as a reason to revert, what does that mean? For example, Dhahar, which you recently revert, there has never been a time when it has been consistently Somaliland for more than a year. (2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015.) Do you mean a consensus version? If this means a consensus version, you should put the Summary as "consensus version" and indicate on the article's talk page where the consensus was reached.--Freetrashbox (talk) 22:56, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sultan Umar Sultan Mohamed moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Sultan Umar Sultan Mohamed, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in the Horn of Africa (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes). Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Thank you for your message. Can you please explain why you deem such an edit as "controversial"? I do not see how such an edit requires consensus as this is not a contentious edit. Nevertheless, I have added an citation to the infobox for reference.

Many thanks Jacob300 (talk) 16:50, 29 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for adding the source. There is (probably) no agreement that nationality is "controversial." However, in general, nationality is personal information, and the source should be clearly stated. Not only that, but all Wikipedia entries must have a source. But it can also be difficult to find sources for things that seem obvious. In such cases, consensus in the Talk page can be utilized. In this case, for example, "Edna is a minister of Somaliland, so her nationality is considered to be Somaliland."--Freetrashbox (talk) 21:48, 29 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Commons Figure

edit

I saw your edit to commons:File:Geographic map of Somaliland.svg. I am surprised that you are making such political edits despite the above DS notification. You have made changes to this image that go against the wishes of the original creator. Why do you try to force edits, avoiding agreement with the other party?--Freetrashbox (talk) 07:38, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Freetrashbox:

Thank you for your message. Please take any questions you may have regarding commons to my commons talk page. Additionally, please assume good faith as per WP:AFG.

Many thanks Jacob300 (talk) 11:21, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Since the file is currently being used on English Wikipedia, and your home wiki is English Wikipedia, it is normal to ask for an explanation on English Wikipedia. You don't seem to realize that the version you made the latest is the version that the creator revert. You will need to revert to the original version again, or add your editing intentions on the Talk Page of the file. I expect your good faith.--Freetrashbox (talk) 12:27, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Your revert

edit

I saw your revert. In your version, the source[1] clearly state that Buraan is in Somalia. Wikipedia statements should be written exactly as they appear in the source, without your personal opinions.-- Freetrashbox (talk) 10:45, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I saw your revert. You reverted the description to

Sool (Somali: Sool, Arabic: صول) is an administrative region (gobol) in south eastern Somaliland[2]

, but the source clearly indicated that "Sool region, Somalia (March 2022)." Even in the lead section, the description must be true to the source of the information.--Freetrashbox (talk) 13:02, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I saw your edit. I am very surprised that you ignored the above DS notification and deleted the sourced statement without explanation. Please explain the reason. Freetrashbox (talk) 20:05, 22 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

2023 Las Anod conflict

edit

Hi Jacob300, would you please provide a reason for your revert in the article about the 2023 Las Anod conflict at the article's talk page? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 15:01, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi ToBeFree,
Thank you for your message.

Avoiding an edit war

edit

Hi Jacob300! I noticed that you have joined an edit war in the article about the 2023 Las Anod conflict. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:2023 Las Anod conflict, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 15:05, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

June 2023

edit

Hello, and thank you for removing vandalism from Hargeisa. We appreciate this, but unfortunately your edit was not successful in restoring the article to its pre-vandalised state. For future reference, it is better to deal with vandalism by checking the article's page history to determine how it appeared before it was vandalised. You can then restore the whole article, or the relevant part of it, to an appropriate earlier version. If you simply delete the visible vandalism then any content removed or overwritten by the vandal is lost. See How to deal with vandalism for details. Thank you. - Sumanuil. Hi Jacob

edit

There is problem in Wanlaweyn page someone always delete the citition and replace the original text, can you please check the page and monitor Turwaq (talk) 15:27, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jacob

edit

You have deleted many texts on the Wanlawayn page, including that the name Wanlaweyn in Italian is uanle uwen, as well as the city known as Dafet, using that name will help the page for adding more history about the district, you have also deleted many posts about Wanlawayn, even the citation was deleted. So please do your research and restor some of the texts like other names of the town, like Dafet, and text that mention some history of the town.

Thank you so much Turwaq (talk) 23:27, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
