Notes

edit

Hi! I have some notes for you on your draft:

  • The characters section needs sourcing for anything that could be seen as an interpretation or a major claim. You can use the book for this, as well as secondary sources. The only catch is that if you use the book, the book needs to explicitly state the claim it's backing up.
  • The cultural background section should only cover the topic of pesticides as it applies to the book. The section is predominantly sourced with citations that don't cover the book itself and is written persuasively, to alert the reader to a harmful threat. This makes it more of an essay, which should be avoided. The only part of the section that is about the book is "The novel addresses the negative impact of harmful pesticides, which is an issue in farming towns throughout Argentina. Schweblin mentions this when asked about the inspiration for her novel." - however I would rephrase this to say "Schweblin drew inspiration for her novel from the use of harmful pesticides in farming towns throughout Argentina, which she stated causes multiple issues." This puts the emphasis back on the book while still mentioning that the pesticide was an issue. Essentially, the article's focus is on the book, so the sections should still focus on this.
  • This needs more sourcing - I would look through academic and scholarly databases to see if there's any coverage in those outlets. Also keep in mind that coverage does not have to be in English, so if there's coverage in another language you can definitely use that for the article.

I hope that this helps - I think you have a good start here, just make sure to be cautious about the above notes. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:50, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
