Sockpuppetry case

edit

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/JakeGavin for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. - Barek (talkcontribs) - 04:24, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ashland HS

edit

My reversions were due to WP:NOT, as in what Wikipedia is not. See Plano Senior High School for a example of how a high school article should ideally appear. A list of student officers is un-encyclopedic, and as you should get the not so subtle hint from multiple editors removing it, that information should not be in the article. Additionally, you will get little help if you continue to re-add the info against the community WP:CONSENSUS and if you are using sockpuppets. I suggest bringing this issues up on the discussion page of the school itself instead of continuing to add the info. Aboutmovies (talk) 05:35, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please take the time to read things

edit

If you would take the time to read the various links provided to you (generally they are the blue colored words) you will know where to take your concerns about not being sock puppets. But, and this is VERY IMPORTANT, do not leave me messages about it. I have not accused you of using sock puppets. Someone else did, as indicated by the signature after the accusation. That is why I said "if you are using sockpuppets" and not "stop using sock puppets" as I have no opinion on the matter, nor do I really care. As to you not editing because you disagree with WP:NOT, well then that's your choice. And since you had been borderline disruptive in your editing, I know I'm not going to miss you and the time I and others have wasted cleaning up after you. We have an encyclopedia to write, and we strive for quality, and WP:NOT helps us get there. So, if you want to edit, abide by it and all the other guidelines and policies Wikipedia has in place. As a community we have developed them and expect people to generally follow them.

Now, the article does need some improvements, which can be done within the bounds of all of Wikipedia's guidelines. But, remember that this is a world-wide encyclopedia, so its not really what is important to the students at the school (this is not Myspace), it what is, frankly not prohibited by WP:NOT. Think of what an entry in the World Book Encyclopedia might look like for the school (or you can look at the example within Wikipedia I previously gave you), and edit accordingly, if you want to continue editing. If you feel you have been treated unfairly

You should read about dispute resolution and see if you need a third opinion. If you have a legitimate complaint, this usually works better than continuing to argue your case with the involved editors. Cheers, Katr67 (talk) 17:25, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I figured you would know what I was talking about since you've only edited Ashland High School (Oregon). My message above this one was in regards to the disputed edits on that article, and to the sockpuppetry case. I thought that rather than continue to argue with Aboutmovies you might read about dispute resolution by clicking on the link provided and perhaps find a venue where you could get the opinion of some other editors about your edits to the Ashland article and about the sockpuppetry case, which of course wasn't brought by Aboutmovies, but by another editor, Barek. Talking to other editors usually works better than continuing to argue with one person. We have a lot of rules here, so sometimes it is good to have a different editor explain them to you in a different way. If you are acting in good faith and don't continue to editwar over the Ashland High School article, I'm sure the sockpuppetry case can be resolved to your satisfaction. But I see from a later post you made that you find Wikipedia dull and may or may not help out much here anyway. If you decide you'd like to help build the encyclopedia, you might consider my suggestions. But if you don't, good luck with whatever it is you do that isn't dull!
