Welcome

edit

Hello, Jakegosling20, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself has been or will shortly be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, but if you want to use the content from it, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Borkificator (talk) 17:20, 8 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, instead of writing it yourself, as you did at Jake Gosling. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. JamesBWatson (talk) 21:19, 8 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Jake Gosling

edit

The article Jake Gosling has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability. Sourced only to MySpace. Self-promotional article.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your submission at Articles for creation

edit

Jake Gosling discography, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. However, you are more than welcome to continue submitting work to Articles for Creation.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

Cheers! Stella (My talk page) 01:58, 23 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
I spent a great deal of time re-structuring the article before I moved it. Thank you for adding proper sourcing and being neutral. Some of the content as well has been adjusted to improve neutrality. Please do not edit the article or change the pictures. If it needs to be updated or changes, please ask another author to make the changes to maintain the integrity of the article and to avoid deletion due to conflict of interest. Feel free to hit me up. Best wishes to you. Cheers! Stella (My talk page) 02:04, 23 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

One Direction moments credit

edit

I have noticed that you have been taking credit for writing One Direction's Moments (One Direction song), when various sources state Sheeran wrote it with Si Hulbert, for example Allmusic, EMI Music Publishing. AdabowtheSecond (talk) 21:35, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jake Gosling

edit

Are you the subject of this article? If so, you should not be writing about yourself, per WP:AUTOBIO, and you certainly should not remove valid maintenance tags. Regards, GiantSnowman 18:21, 5 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'll ask again - are you Jake Gosling? GiantSnowman 20:05, 1 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Jake Gosling, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. GiantSnowman 11:03, 2 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
