Do your West Brom books have much on the sadly recently departed Derek Kevan? I did a few bits and pieces on his article when I heard about his death. Those bits proved straightforward to write, so it struck me as something that wouldn't be too hard to set on a path to GA standard. Oldelpaso (talk) 21:34, 14 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi Jameboy, were asking about the edits I had made? Most of the articles that the some of the editors made start with the words "title of a song". Another editor taught me to do it that way. A lot of the song articles are done that way. David829 (talk) 08:45, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

fc template
editHi, thanks for letting me know this but I have two questions regarding what you've said:
- As the link still worked and there was no visible change, why change it?
- Also, it takes much longer to type what you've said, so when is the 'fc|team' template actually used?
From what I've read, transclusion is better than substitution. Apologies if you explained it in the original post but I'm finding it hard to understand why a change is needed. Bestbaggiesfan (talk) 22:17, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Title of a song
editHi I've been looking some of the new song articles that have been created buy other editors and they all start with "the title of a song". But I guess "is a song work", too. Maybe they think it's better grammer, I'm not sure. David829 (talk) 13:00, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

editHi,
That misspelling of the word "written" was indeed a typo on my part. Thanks for catching it!

Requesting deletion of private informaton
editHello, Jameboy! I noticed your report at AN/I, and since nobody mentioned it there, I thought I’d drop you a line: in future please take note of the “Are you in the right place?” collapsed navbox at the top of the page, which says,
- To request permanent deletion of sensitive personal information, see requests for oversight. DO NOT make such requests here; reports here are visible to everyone.
The topic is closed, and will be archived soon, so it‘s no big deal—just beware of the local Streisand effect when discussing disclosures of private material.—Odysseus1479 01:59, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Thomas Magee
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Thomas Magee requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invite to the African Destubathon
editHi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Importance parameter - also class
editHi, re edits like this: it's not necessary to set |importance=NA
since for pages outside main talk space (such as category talk and template talk), the importance is automatically set to NA. Ths class is similarly set automatically, so in most cases it's easiest to simply remove those parameters, like this. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 07:12, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
- The way you mentioned is definitely neater, thanks. I suppose my thinking was to make it explicit, probably not necessary though. --Jameboy (talk) 17:06, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

Kakiemon elephants
editHallo Jameboy, Thank you for your message. The title "Kakiemon elephants" is generic and can refer to any pair of elephants made in the Kakiemon style, of which there are many. It would be the same as giving a title called "Ming vase" or "Meissen porcelain plate". Which one is being referred to? Therefore the disambiguation, I hope you agree. Class and importance on project banners
editI noticed that you are setting some article talk page project banners as "class and importance set automatically for template". Is this something new, or something that has just been around for a while that nobody bothered with? Going forward when I create new articles, should I be doing this? You're doing something I'm not familiar with, and I'd like to know how I should affix banners when creating a new article. — Maile (talk) 20:46, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) @Maile66: Your first question probably refers to #Importance parameter - also class above. As for your second, WikiProject banners are normally added either by the members of that project, or by non-members who are certain that the article really does fall within the purview of that WikiProject. If unsure, omit. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 08:35, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

MLB teams going entire season without being shut out
editIf you get a moment, please could you have a look at this reference you added and let me know what the book says? I'm wondering if the same reference could be used to fix the lead section of 1932 New York Yankees season, as I'd like to change "They are the only major-league team ever to go an entire season without being shut out." to something like "They became the first major-league team ever to go an entire season without being shut out, an accomplishment later matched by the 2000 Cincinnati Reds" However I don't want to simply copy in a reference without knowing what the reference actually says, and I don't own that book. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 16:15, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hello. From the outset, thank you for creating the page. I apologize for not getting back sooner as I have been inactive for a few months. You can definitely go ahead and make the change on the lead to the Yankees season. Have a great week! Mark Staffieri (talk) 16:44, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
