Speedy deletion nomination of James-Honey

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on James-Honey requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 15:57, 17 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Welcome, and please be aware of policy

edit

James, if you're the James Snider of Flight of Kites/WinterKids, thanks for being open about your username. There is a Wikipedia policy named Conflict of Interest which provides guidelines on how editors should tread when editing articles about themselves. Basically, we ask that you not make radical or controversial changes, and abide by WP policies about WP:RS reliable sources for any added material. And you're completely within your rights to remove false or defamatory material.

  • We ask that you generally request that changes be made to the article in its Talk page, as an interested party. That way, experienced editors who have the article in their watchlist will respond & help. Technically, the recent article move was incomplete, as it left behind the Talk page; fortunately, there was only my single comment on the old page, so no damage done.
  • The article is rather short, and merits expansion. If you have links to more info/reviews/interviews/news articles about WinterKids (or Flight of Kites), please feel free to add them to the Talk page, and an interested editor (perhaps me) will peruse and use them.
  • As for adding material about your new band, it should be backed up by a mention somewhere substantial, like a newspaper (or associated blog), magazine(paper or online, gossip rags excluded). Even a reliable podcast, or radio show (if archived) might suffice, if the host is notable. See WP:TRUTH - verifiability is what we're all about, here at Wikipedia.
  • Is there an archive somewhere of the webshows or videos you've streamed? Were they ever reviewed or mentioned anywhere? Search engines don't know everything. --Lexein (talk) 18:18, 27 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Lexein - thank you for the info it is much appreciated. I am new to the world of Wikipedia and noticed that somebody had created an article about WinterKids. With WinterKids coming to an end, I decided to inform fans by updating the wiki page. We sold circa 30,000 records worldwide and have had a lot of emails asking what is going on with the band, so I thought wikipedia is a good place to update people! When I get a chance, if you don't mind, perhaps I can give you a full bio with links to further information on what was achieved with WinterKids? Then you could update the page appropriately? As far as the new project 'James-Honey', the reason for creating a wiki page would be to inform WinterKids fans what some of the members of the band are up to nowadays. I will wait until James-Honey signs with a label and has a release before providing you with info on the project. Regards James
