partition

Hi James, I was thinking of the special case of subset sum in which S is the set of integers and the target value s is equal to sum(S)/2. If there is a subset S1 that sums to s, then the left over elements form another subset S2 that also sums to s. In other words, saying there is a partition of S into two subsets with equal sums is like saying there is a subset S1 of S such that sum(S1) = sum(S)/2. Shlurbee 05:41, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
