Citing references is to provide facts about the subject of the articles and substantiate with in-line references eg. from the newspaper. External links are those links such as homepage or other links which are not reference links.

Hi, I wanted to know why the citation was changed (The Indian Express from The Times of India). The previous citation referred to the same content as the new citation. Hello Vaibhav, Pleased to have a response from you. I had to change the citation because the information in your citation contained result announcement date as 21st. But, the actual date in The Indian Express and some other newspapers was displayed as 22nd. So I changed the result announcement date and hence had to change the citation. I hope I justified my edit. If not, please write back to me and we can discuss in detail. If the result announcement date is 21st, kindly change it to the Times of India citation. JanShu (talk) 04:46, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
