Why can't I edit some particular pages?

Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.

Use the main sandbox or create your own personal sandbox to experiment.

How do I create an article?

See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.

How do I create citations?

1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:

What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?

One suggestion

Can I suggest one thing? When you make an article, it helps greatly if, after you have finished, you can create a couple of links to that new article from other, related articles. Often, the easiest way to make this happen is to add to the other articles a "See also" section, and list your new article as a link in that section. If your new article has no links to it from other articles it is called "an orphan", and may get an orphan tag put on it. You see, once an article is linked to from other articles people are much more likely to find it and read it. You will see that I fixed up a couple of your articles in that way, but I did not check all of them. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes, Invertzoo (talk) 14:27, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I had gone to a couple of other articles and added wiki links where it mentions the topic of articles I've created, but I could be a bit more active with this. It's great to get a bit of feedback on my completed articles to know they may be good enough to mention under the See Also section. I'm slowly but surely building wikipedia confidence. Hi MrNiceGuy1113! Thank you for taking an interest in my page, I have been trying to put more content up on Chilean movies. As per your addition: I agree it's good to have a section that addresses the film's critical reception, but it seems to me the convention is to phrase this neutrally so that it reads like an objective report of the reviews the film has received. I think it would be better to call the section "Reception" and explicitly state which review we are discussing (eg, "the film received mixed reviews from the press, with Variety magazine saying that... The Hollywood Reporter, however, criticised..."); otherwise it sounds like a wiki user's review. The reviews you found were from major sources so I definitely agree they should be mentioned. Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia.
