User:Wiki alf originally blocked this IP due to vandalism. I presume you may have been editing from Maidstone Grammar School? Due to the large number of vandal editors from this IP, it is usually blocked. I had to edit from school, so I temporarily unblocked the IP whilst I edited. I reblocked the IP after and that is why my name showed up on the block log. Thanks, FireFoxT • 17:19, 23 January 2006

Ah, same difference or there abouts. Your IP block at Aylesford Sports College is mainly due to the spamheads at Maidstone Grammar School. I apologise on behalf of them all. The IP won't be blocked permanantly, so it's pot luck whether it's blocked or not when you try to edit from Aylesford Sports College. Thanks, FireFoxT • 20:11, 23 January 2006

Image Tagging Image:PRO-09 IMG.jpg

edit

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:PRO-09 IMG.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Darkslide.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 82.83.96.252 10:37, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lithium

edit

Please do not move pages without discussion, as you did to Lithium (song). The proposal was just discussed last week and did not succeed; the Nirvana song is by far the most famous one and the Evanescence song is not yet even notable enough for its own article; it is currently just a redirect to the album, as it should be. Kafziel Talk 12:40, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Also, when you move a page, the system will automatically make the old location into a redirect to the new location. You shouldn't change that to a redirect to a disambiguation page. When you did that, hundreds of articles that linked to Lithium (song) were suddenly linking to Lithium (disambiguation), and linking to disambiguation pages is rarely a good thing. I'm going to leave the article at Lithium (Nirvana song) but I have changed the redirect back so that "Lithium (song)" redirects to "Lithium (Nirvana song)". If the Evanescence song is ever notable enough to sustain an article of its own, "Lithium (song)" can be turned into a disambiguation page (after discussion!) but then all of the Nirvana articles will need to be edited to avoid the disambiguation page.

I know it's kind of a complicated process, but it's the best way to ensure that readers find what they are looking for. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Kafziel Talk 13:05, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

AfD Nomination: Star Wars Fanon

edit

I've nominated the article Star Wars Fanon for deletion under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Star Wars Fanon satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. I have explained why in the nomination space (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Star Wars Fanon. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them. You are free to edit the content of Star Wars Fanon during the discussion, but please do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top). Doing so will not end the discussion. Sith edits

edit

We do not allow unreferenced material to be added to Wikipedia. The entire article was almost completely unsourced, and the previous fact tag had been there for over a year. No references, not allusions, no nothing. I had warned folk it was coming via the Discussion page, and waited over a week before executing the edit.
I even moved the excised material to an archive, located here, allowing for folk to refer to the material needing to be cited, so that whatever effort was expended in writing it wouldn't simply be lost (and believe you me, I caught a bit of hell for even doing that).
The point of this is, the material is uncited. You must see that. It cannot remain in a Wikipedia article as is, and cannot return until substantial citations are added. If you want to discuss this, you can on the Discussion page. If you feel that my interpretation of Wikipedia's policy on citation is being incorrectly interpreted, please feel free to consult an admin on the matter. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 15:59, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Slipknot's fourth studio album

edit

Please do not remove the AfD template until the discussion is not over. It is inactive, yes, but it is not over. This is clearly stated on the template itself. Zouavman Le Zouave 06:38, 4 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on Slipknot's fourth studio album, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. tomasz. 09:29, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Swjvs3.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Swjvs3.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 08:21, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Evanescence edit

edit

Greetings Jasca, in a recent edit you made to the article Evanescence (diff), you uncensored a word, saying that Wikipedia does not censor content. While this is normally correct, direct citations are never changed from the format that is presented in the source. Here, the source used 'f--k', therefore, we also must use that or else it stops being a direct citation. Just keep this in mind in the future. If there are any questions, please leave a message on my talk page. Huntster (t@c) 19:56, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request to move article Skate (video game) incomplete

edit

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Skate (video game) to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved, to automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

Wales (more correctly, a part of it) was a principality before the conquest and during the periods it was administered by the heir-apparent (as Prince of Wales). It was fully integrated by statute and has not been a principality since then. Wales is a country. A country does not have to be sovereign to be a country. To some extent it has to do with popular feeling. It would be weird to call U.S. states "countries", but it used to be normal. In fact, for a significant period, one's state was one's country more so than the United States. If the Welsh think they're a country, they're a country. -Rrius (talk) 23:25, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

It is also defined as a country by the UK Government by the way. Just for historical accuracy, the hier-apparent did have estates in Wales, but so did many others so its inaccurate to say that the Prince of Wales was ever prince in any conventional sense of the word. --Snowded TALK 09:29, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re your edit summary

edit

In response to your edit summary that read "What on earth are you doing?", The article didn't exist at the time and thus the {{main}} wasn't needed. I'm sure I don't need to remind you to assume good faith since you've been here since 2006, but I'm going to anyway because you did not seem like you did in your edit summary. Have a great day. Your recent editing history at List of Assassin's Creed characters shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. --Niemti (talk) 14:53, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Assassin's Creed Genres

edit

I have made a discussion topic on the talk page for Assassin's Creed so we can discuss whether or not we want "historical" to be a genre as opposed to the year. I agree with you and several other users on this that it should be, but User: Darkwarriorblake does not see eye to eye with us. I'm typing this to let you know we are discussing it there. My valid reason, as given on your original edit, is that this has been discussed to death multiple times, and that the consensus is that it remains as "heavy metal". --Jasca Ducato (talk) 12:22, 27 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Can you show me a link to this so called consensus for "heavy metal" to be used in the lead. Brian Tyler for AC IV

edit

Hello Jasca. I'd was wondering if you could take a look over at Brian Tyler and just keep an eye on it for a bit. There is an IP that is insisting that the AC IV credit be kept on the page, even though it has never been officially announced through a reliable source. They are claiming that a YouTube interview with the game director counts, but upon further review, it is not any interview from a reputable source's channel (Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed, IGN, GameSpot, etc). I have tried explaining to them, but don't know where I stand now with my reverts, so just asking to you see, since you make many great contributions to the AC pages. Thanks. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 14:44, 15 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sure thing, I'll keep an eye. I just had a quick look at his article on the AC Wiki (the fact that he has an article seems to suggest he has some involvement) but it's not sourced. --Jasca Ducato (talk) 16:18, 15 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Same. I looked there to see if they had a source, and they didn't. All I've been able to find from a quick google search, is forum posts. Thanks again. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:42, 15 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I did read the article. Booker DeWitt is the playable character, the main character, which by our on article's definition is 'the protagonist'. The Business Standard link you have provided means nothing; the author was in no way involved in the development of the game. --Jasca Ducato (talk) 10:34, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
"Our on article's definition" is wrong, Shawn Robertson was "in way involved in the development of the game", citation needed for your claim she's not a protagonist ("When we asked Jeffrey about Elizabeth taking the spotlight, she insisted that Liz has been the protagonist of Infinite all along"). "Booker and Elizabeth, the two main protagonists", "protagonists Booker and Elizabeth", etc etc. Whole article: He Doesn’t Row’: How BioShock Infinite Isn’t Booker’s Story. --Niemti (talk) 10:38, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Assassin's Creed and parkour?

edit

Hi Jasca,

I'm not really sure why you are convinced why we should include the template on the article on Assassin's Creed. Parkour might've influenced one particular element of gameplay (which would be running and jumping over obstacles and buildings) and that is the reason why someone put into the parkour template. But does that necessarily mean it should be put on the respective article also? --Soetermans. T / C 09:28, 18 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm of the opinion that if an article is included on a template, said template should, in turn, be included on the article. That is, after all, the whole point of a navbox... That said, if the link was removed from the template, there would be no reason to have it in the article. However, if somebody were to remove the link from the template, they would also have to remove all the other links in the 'games' section of the template, by the same justification. --Jasca Ducato (talk) 10:55, 18 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
If I understand you correctly, because it is linked on the template, the template should be on the article? I guess that makes sense... But to me, parkour and Assassin's Creed (or those other games linked) aren't that connected. Assassin's Creed is about the struggle between Assassins and Templars, not about parkour. Shall we take this to WT:VG? Maybe with some input we can come to a general consensus. --Soetermans. T / C 11:28, 18 October 2013 (UTC) P.S. I really have to get to my study books, I'll check again later this day (it's half past one where I am).Reply
Respectfully, I must disagree; Parkour and freeruning is a fundamental part of the Assassin's Creed IP, and has been since the start. (Indeed, the original idea for the series stemmed from creating a parkour-based game, not an historical one.) That said, you are correct that the story is centered on the Assassin/Templar war, but the template is not disputing that. --Jasca Ducato (talk) 13:28, 18 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

AC4 ending

edit

I'm sorry, but I dispute your notion that the final details of the plot write-up are superfluous and unnecessary. The presence of the Sage is extremely important. The game establishes that he was born with memories of the Observatory, even though it is eighty million years old. He is shown to have the ability to reincarnate, and the Assassins make it clear that this does not happen regularly, but rather as necessary, implying there is a precedent. Neither the Assassins nor the Templars can explain his presence at Abstergo or how he managed to get by them. Juno says she has more than one follower, and the Sage is clearly responsible for the attempt to free her. The Sage clearly describes himself as being something other than human, and his final words make no sense as they do not refer to any events or people in the game. Although there is no further explanation within the story, there is clearly some Precursor presence on earth, and the Sage is their agent. It's anything but superfluous. January 2019

edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Titans (2018 TV series); that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. -- /Alex/21 09:55, 24 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

It is not I who needed to take the discussion to the talk page. It was your edit being disputed. Your recent WP:BOLD edit has been reverted. Per WP:BRD, after a bold edit is reverted, the WP:STATUSQUO should remain while a discussion is started instead of edit-warring per WP:EW, and it should be resolved before reinstating the edit, after a needed WP:CONSENSUS is formed to keep it. -- /Alex/21 10:50, 24 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hey, the reason I ignored this comment was that I did not take it seriously. That's my bad, but it did come across as the sort of comment that we get a lot from new and IP users who are just here because they like the movie and don't understand how Wikipedia works. In future, could you please consider that the other user (me in this case) has most likely read your previous comment and requires more convincing than you have provided? My comment here was in response to yours, and you simply dismissing it as you did suggests that you don't think any argument could best the one you had already given which is not conducive to a positive community discussion. - adamstom97 (talk) 01:37, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Respectfully, it's not my fault that you elected to ignore the comments of another user simply because it looks like the "sort of comment that we get a lot from new and IP users." I am under no obligation to expand upon, or frankly repeat, what was already quite a fairly detailed response in order to convince you not to ignore a message which provide ample arguements against your point. I didn't dismiss your comment but instead directed you to read a response which already answered every point you made, at which point no further contribution to the conversation was made. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 21:11, 21 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your recent editing history at Morbius (film) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. What about it? --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 22:36, 25 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
As the facility goes dark, Simon 3.0 begins to realize his horrible predicament. Stuck at the bottom of the ocean, a copy of a copy of a copy, there’s no hope. Yes, Simon 4.0 is out there in the stars, but Simon 3.0 will never leave Earth. “Please don’t leave me alone,” he screams. “Catherine? Catherine?” The coin toss shows no mercy. There’s a brief epilogue for Simon 4.0, however, in which he wakes up on the ARK with Catherine. Neither is aware of what happened to their previous selves.Daveout (talk) 22:54, 25 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Besides the fact that this sentence runs contrary to the rest of the author's analysis of the game, specifically: "When the transfer occurs, as Simon 2.0 is copied and births Simon 3.0, Simon 3.0 awakens and hears someone familiar talking around the corner: Simon 2.0. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this causes Simon 2.0 to freak out." which makes quite clear that the newest version of Simon is fully aware of what happens during the "transfer" (read: duplication), it is also noteworthy that this is an opinion piece, not an official review or analysis. As such, it holds no water. Further still, not being "aware of what happened to their previous selves" does not equal "completely unaware of the other Simon left behind on PATHOS-II," which reads like Simon 4.0 has no knowledge of 3.0 whatsoever.
Still, even if one could succsssfully argue that the game is ambiguous enough to suggest 4.0 is not aware of 3.0's predicament, that specific clause's inclusion is not necessary as the point of the sentence is that 4.0 and Catherine are now on the ARK, not that 3.0 is still on PATHOS-II (which was already addressed in the previous sentence). --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 09:15, 26 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.   Hello, I'm WikiHannibal. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Cyberpunk 2077, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. - This of course is only a pro-forma template (placed only after you added unsourced info into the article twice in a row) to make sure you do not continue in this manner indefinitely. Template on Zack Snyder’s Justice League

edit

Hey, so Warner Bros. confirmed that Zack Snyder’s Justice League is going to be released as a movie. So, can we change the template box to film instead of television? FilmLover72 (talk) 16:46, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hey, hope you are going well. Thanks for letting me know (in the edit summary) about the excessive images on skateboarding article. However, just a kind note, that if an image snugs in the article, then it is ok for it to be used. I did realise somewhat I added too much, but many thanks for informing me, I will take immediate action to remove images. Also, I noted you removed the pic about the skater girl. I've added this image because we need to showcase that the skater girls have revolutionised skateboarding and its practices, its very common to see girls skateboarding, and I will remove the necessary images, as I thought I was illustrating the article. Sorry about that :) --EurovisionNim (talk to me)(see my edits) 12:08, 7 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

ScarJo works

edit

I totally agree, but one editor has added the cat to 50+ articles, so I just decided to reinstate it as it would be very tedious to remove them all. I would appreciate any help with that. IronManCap (talk) 15:01, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I see you already did the necessary. Thanks a lot. IronManCap (talk) 15:03, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Screenshot for Assassin's Creed Syndicate: Jack the Ripper

edit

Hi Jasca Ducato, hope you are well. I recently created a standalone page about Assassin's Creed Syndicate: Jack the Ripper. Not long afterwards, an editor put in a request for an in-game screenshot to help better illustrate the article on the talk page. As you seem to be the most active Wikipedian who is interested in Assassin's Creed-related articles that I am aware of, I thought I'd ask for your input or opinion on what aspect of the DLC would be the best choice as the subject of the proposed screenshot. Haleth (talk) 03:23, 8 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Haleth, I appreciate you reaching out. I think your best bet would be to get a gameplay screenshot with the player in control of Jack; even better if you can get one with the scrawled messages (representing Jack's supposed insanity) appearing on screen as well. If memory serves, these appear most if not every time you play as Jack in the DLC, so it shouldn't be too hard to get a screenshot. -- JascaDucato (talk | contributions) 08:57, 8 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your response, and I will take your suggestion into consideration. Haleth (talk) 05:00, 9 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

This change was made by whom?

edit

By the looks of it there was never a discussion to change to BCE beside you just randomly changing it to BCE this is a clear violation of MOS:ERA Wildestc (talk) 11:42, 21 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

To the best of my knowledge, MOS:ERA does not require a discussion, only recommends. All other Assassin's Creed video game articles use the BCE/CE date format, so these changes were made to bring the three most recent articles in-line with that convention. -- JascaDucato (talk | contributions) 13:18, 21 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
"An article's established era style should NOT be changed without reasons specific to its content; seek CONSENSUS on the talk page first" doesn't seem hard to understand imo Wildestc (talk) 13:34, 21 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
So FOR NOW i'm reverting the era style back to BC/AD until you get consensus on the talk page (as stated in MOS:ERA) Wildestc (talk) 15:01, 21 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

June 2024

edit

Hello. Can you please tell me which guideline states that the 165 minutes and 37 seconds should be 166 minutes? The source explicitly says that the runtime is 2 hours and 45 minutes, not 2 hours and 46 minutes. Medxvo (talk) 13:46, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi. The guidance for the runtime field on Template:Infobox film advises: "If the running time is given to the second, round it to the minute." (At 30s+, one should round up.) As for the source, the exact words are: "Dune 2 runs for a confirmed 165 minutes and 37 seconds, or 2 hours and 45 minutes." So, the source is rounding down for some reason. -- JascaDucato (talk | contributions) 19:43, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I see. I think it's best to keep it at 166 minutes then. Thank you for replying! Medxvo (talk) 20:13, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
