Speedy deletion nomination of Blake Thompson
editA tag has been placed on Blake Thompson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hi there. Thanks for your email. The article I deleted made no reference to the award, and only linked to the Dave Ramsey show website, which is a primary source. Winning a national award would certainly be enough for A7 in my mind. Do you have a link to the award? GedUK 07:39, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
- Here is a link to the award. http://www.nab.org/documents/events/awards/marconiAwards/2009Winners.asp
- That award is for Dave Ramsey, not Thompson. If it was for the show, then yes they'd be a link with the producer, but as it's a personality award, I don't think that carries the same. GedUK 16:36, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
- Is this really worth such a debate over A7 deletion? A7 states: "The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source or does not qualify on Wikipedia's notability guidelines." So, leaving out the award issue, I don't understand how you can delete this on A7 when it was clear he is the producer of the show, and that the show article indicates how big of a show it is. This, to me, is speedy deletion abuse & part of the reason Wikipedia loses contributors. If we want to have a debate on notability, that is fine, but as A7 states, that is not a reason to speedy delete. --Jason Tracy (talk) 19:01, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- I do see your point; that he produces an award winning show, or at least an award winning host. I don't think that's enough even for the lower threshold of A7. The place to take this now if you want is deletion review, where the wider community will look at it. GedUK 20:33, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
