Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Jasonwalkertyler. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Samara Weaving, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Mifter (talk) 01:46, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have been in contact with Wikipedia’s CEO for the past few days in regard to the spamming the article has received. If there was a conflict of interest present, they would have quickly expressed the aforementioned policy as to assuage me. I consider this spamming my talk page. Page Six

edit

Is not wp:RS. Known for its tabloid journalism. See WP:PAGESIX Adakiko (talk) 02:24, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I see Page Six mentioned nowhere in your article. Furthermore, I cited my article corrections with reputable sources. Please cease with opining on my talk page. Jasonwalkertyler (talk) 03:37, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits to Samara Weaving could give Wikipedia contributors the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. Please note that making such threats on Wikipedia is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. If you have a dispute with the content of any page on Wikipedia, please follow the proper channels for dispute resolution. Please be sure to comment on content, not contributors, and where possible make specific suggestions for changes supported by reliable independent sources and focusing especially on verifiable errors of fact. Thank you. By referencing U.S. FTC/FCC reports/tickets in your edit summary "Note: This article is being spammed by bots FTC Report Number 152038513 FCC Ticket No. 5747770" are you indicating you have made (or will make) complaints to those agencies asking them to intercede/being a legal process or investigation against Wikipedia or any of its editors? Mifter (talk) 05:32, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I would ask that you also refrain from opining on my talk page. Again, Wikipedia is not social media toward “social networking” which is their policy. You have taken a warning for any serious contributor so as they do not take offense or seek to “maintain” an article that is subject to edits that are reverted (without comment) and/or applied (without adequate sourcing) and made it self-referential. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain pages (Samara Weaving) for abuse of editing privileges.

Request reason:

no conflict of interest or legal threats as insinuated. I am not here to elevate the status of Samara Weaving and have no relationship as stated in the conflict of interest discussion. Contacting the FCC and FTC are not legal threats. I contacted them in regard to the amount of anonymous editors monitoring said page. Jasonwalkertyler (talk) 09:26, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

This is currently under community discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Legal threat? 2. Wait for a resolution to that discussion. Cabayi (talk) 10:15, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

No verifiable reason was given by Cabayi to deny the lifting of the block not WP: AGF allowing Adakiko WP: DE.

This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on others again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Adakiko is not editing disruptively, claiming so is a personal attack.Kusma (talk) 12:21, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

For review https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Samara_Weaving&diff=1111285055&oldid=1111236336. Wikipedia did not warn the source as unreliable. Furthermore, the citation could be replaced https://www.heraldsun.com.au/lifestyle/smart/samara-weaving-on-the-valet-the-truth-behind-hollywood-glamour-and-next-film-with-her-husband/news-story/7e553c0cb86682711d5456a1f4fda23a?amp&nk=1422de8f03f87022b82a4c3eefb25fb6-1663666460 as it is a mention. Adakiko has not explained https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Adakiko#Complaint_about_sources.

Blocked sitewide

edit

Per this ANI discussion, your legal threats against anonymous editors at Samara Weaving, your continued disruptive editing and a failure to listen and constructively engage, I have changed your block to a sitewide indefinite block — TheresNoTime (talk • they/them) 12:53, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Decline reason:

There is clearly some reason you are so heavily invested in the subject of your edits, it is not just random interest. You have said you are an industry professional, that could be a COI. You have indeed made legal threats, and you will need to either withdraw them or indicate that they are resolved or concluded. Your conduct in general is also disturbing. I again say, if you are in communication with Wikimedia Foundation staff about this matter and they endorse your conduct, please have them post here under their official Foundation account. I am declining your request. If they do not substantially change, you will lose access to this page too. 331dot (talk) 13:25, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

WP:LTA COI https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest#How_to_disclose_a_COI “I am a fellow industry professional clarifying her article.” https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Samara_Weaving&action=history LT “That a legal dispute exists between users, whether as a result of incidents on Wikipedia or elsewhere, is not a valid reason to block, so long as no legal threats are made on Wikipedia.” No specific defendant was named adjoining to the edit summary. “A legal threat, in this context, is a threat to engage in an external (real life) legal or other governmental process that would target Wikipedia or other editors.” Nor did I say that I was taking any legal action. “ Note: This article is being spammed by bots FTC Report Number 152038513 FCC Ticket No. 5747770.” WP: AGF would allow for me to edit any perceived conflict/threat. I have not been allowed to do so. As well, “Admins should encourage an aggrieved user to identify factual errors in the article at issue; a link to Wikipedia:Contact us/Article problem/Factual error (from subject) may be appropriate.” This did not occur.

Private evidence / VRT

edit

Per policy, I have (again) modified this block to account for recent private evidence (Ticket:2022092010009244, Ticket:2022091910002422) — TheresNoTime (talk • they/them) 15:43, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

We assume good faith until an editor proves faithless. AGF does not mean we must allow you to do anything you want and the Community must shrug and say, Oh well, AGF". Thanks -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 17:03, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
