Hey, User:davidwr

He is a current idol trainee who is soon to debut! He made it to the final round of a survival show, and recieved over a million and a half votes in his name during the run of that show! Further, he is participating in concerts and artist promotions, which include online concerts and other! He’s a new name for sure, but, in my honest opinion, is certainy notable. He is also currently the only Vietnamese idol who is promoting and working in South Korea.

That seems promising. If you happen to read Korean or Vietnamese, consider finding some reliable, independent sources that provide significant coverage and list them on the article's talk page. Ditto if you have access to English-language Korean news media. Remember though, coverage provided by him or his publicists, or any news story that is basically a warmed-over press release or based on material provided by him or his publicist, doesn't "count" when it comes to assessing a person's notability. That said, a million and a half votes in a country the size of Korea is impressive, so it's highly likely, but not certain, that suitable sources exist. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 03:30, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

I can go through and find some more info to bulk up his page, for sure! Most of the content around him is centered on his four month period where he participated in the show I-Land, so I will start to look for media covereage on that show to add infromation. Unfortunately, as with most idols, the coverage often comes from celebrity news websites, rather than scholarly or news articles. I can locate a wealth of info that come from those, as he was wildly popular, and is the first vietnamese idol in korea, but I’m not sure how credible in the eyes of wikipedia those sources would be. I would love to bulk up his new article, I’m afraid I may just need direction on what to search for in particular.

Ironic that you should mention scholarly web sites, because typically that would be considered a "primary source" - Wikipedia prefers secondary sources like newspapers and magazines or, in the digital era, web sites that aren't "reporting their own stuff." Reputable celebrity-oriented media outlets that don't simply re-spew publicity information but actually act more like newspapers but with a focus on celebrities are okay, gossip sites and sites that are nothing but "tell us all about you, we'll re-word it and put it up, you get publicity, we get advertiser money, readers get 'news', and advertisers get eyeballs" are not okay.

Thats actually great news! I can absolutely spend some time getting some naver articles and such to bulk that page up! Thank you for the advice and direction, I’m happy to work on getting this page nice and filled out! Is Wikipedia ok with me linking korean articles, or should I look on sites that are dedicated to translating said articles into english?

Non-English-language sources are acceptable. It might be helpful to include an English-language summary on the article's talk page if you anticipate there will be questions about the source's independence, reliability, or how much it information is coming from the source.
