Realize you are busy, but maybe....
Redthoreau and Damiens.rf have both been blocked for warring over Che Guevara (photo), specifically over the issue of how many quotes the article should contain. The blocking admin User talk:EdJohnston has suggested an RFC over the issue. However, I suggested that some neutral GA reviewer could give some article quality opinions, as if you were doing a GA review, instead of an RFC. That way both editors would focus on article quality instead of each other and hopefully would learn something also. Redthoreau has agreed to the premise, but specifically mentioned you as an editor he trusts. Malleus Fatuorum has agreed to do this for Che Guevara (photo) if you will also. I know you are busy with your class so I hesitate to ask. I do think this could be a useful way to resolve the situation as well as imparting information on article standards to editors in need. Regards, —Mattisse (Talk) 04:00, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- I am withdrawing this request, as Redthoreau's recent talk page postings indicate issues of ownership and any sort of cooperative effort does not seem worth other editors' time. Additionally, the blocking admin has withdrawn from active attempts to find a solution to the situation and prefers to allow the block to remain in place. Sorry to trouble you. NRG project GA noms
As you probably know, Awadewit is experiencing health problems at present and doesn't seem to be editing or reviewing. She is GA reviewer for a couple of NRG articles that have been on the GAN page for a while. Would you like me to take these over, at least until Awadewit returns, so as not to keep your students waiting unnecssarily? I'm happy to help. Brianboulton (talk) 19:38, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Rodríguez
Jon, I've been working on the article and getting close to having gone through Awadewit's review. From what I understand, Awadewit isn't able to spend much time on Wikipedia lately - who could have a look to make sure what we're doing is ok? --Mstmaurice (talk) 22:25, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
Similar project
You may be interested in listening to this interview [1] It sounds like he is doing something similar to your projects. Except, in addition to WP work, he made his students do a research paper! --maclean 20:30, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Online Tutoring Redirected to Virtual Education
Thanks for your efforts Jbmurray, Mark Quigley and Bazzargh. You guys really do good stuff but as I are fallible sometimes as in this case, in my opinion. Only in a world in which professionals in one area try to increase the breadth of their contributions through catch-all aggregation would online tutoring be subsumed under virtual education. Is tutoring and education the same thing? Tutoring is an activity that implies action by some professional human or agent while education exists in a broader context that might not even include tutoring for a successful attainment of its purpose. Its ok to request improvement to the Online Tutoring page and if I had the time (and might in future) I would improve it. But directing users to Virtual Education when they request information or description of Online Tutoring weakens Wikipedia and does not serve seekers well. It also does not help them find the content well as it does not rank on good engines since it is not the same thing.
The problem I had with the Online Tutoring page (which for full disclosure I created) was attempts to turn it into a web directory. Otherwise, it provides (or should) the information seekers need on online tutoring and that specifically. And more professional work needs to be done also (nothing on research on effectiveness of virtual education, new work on speech recognition in browsers and disability etc) on that Virtual Education page rather than going around copying or aggregating related but different contents from other pages and minimizing Wikipedia. Just my opinion but I still love what you guys do seeing I cant even commit a tenth the time. --keal (talk) 18:30, 21 December 2008 (UTC)§
