2020 and 2021 entries

February 2020

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Fox Music does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours to prevent you from persistently adding unsourced or poorly sourced content. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:05, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Request reason:

After asking the blocking administrator for further clarification as to why I was blocked, I understand the reasoning of why I was placed under a block. I admit that my edit in question was impulsively premature and I should have waited until I could provide a reputable, accurate source to support my addition before submitting it. I was searching for such a source to retroactively add after I made such edit, but again, I realize that I should have just held off until then. My edit was done in complete good faith and was not intended to cause any vandalism. I have a through comprehension of Wikipedia's policies and will ensure that such a nearsighted mistake will not occur again. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 05:43, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

Accept reason:

Please make sure your edits are properly sourced in the future. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 15:45, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

@NinjaRobotPirate: May I inquire as to what this is about? This appears to be at random as there is no explanation given–where is the "unsourced or poorly sourced content" claim originating from? ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 03:30, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
This edit was unsourced, and I warned you that this was going to happen next time you changed sourced content. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:39, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
@NinjaRobotPirate: You blocked me on account of one good faith edit and are justifying it because you gave me a warning (at an unrelated article) over a year and 4 months ago? You could've just brought it to my attention on my talk page or from an edit revert. I have a source for that edit now, in fact, which took me longer than I expected to find. I admit the edit was premature and I should've waited until I found the source to add what I added, but regardless, this action of yours seems rather overbold. You didn't even remove the content in question, which I find strange for a reaction like this. Had you addressed it, I would've realized my impulsive mistake and taken it down until I found the source that I needed. I shall appeal this. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 04:01, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
The source you've posted here doesn't explicitly say Touchstone produced that film. It says "from Touchstone", which could mean many things, including that Touchstone is a distributor or an investor. Or maybe they're listed for some obscure contractual reason. We can't know. The source needs to explicitly say that Touchstone produced the film. The AFI Catalog of Feature Films, Allmovie, Screen Daily, and The Hollywood Reporter are good places to look to find production companies that have been labeled as such. It cuts down on the guesswork and original research. See {{infobox film}} for instructions. I realize this topic area has been subject to spotty enforcement, even by me. But, come on, you've been warned plenty enough already. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 04:48, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Allmovie says it was produced by Touchstone. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 05:17, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

Hamilton in theatres

Thank you for correcting me. I had heard in a podcast that they were still planning on releasing the film in theatres after it releases on Disney+, but I can't find any corroborating evidence. BOVINEBOY2008 13:08, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Hey

Just wanted to tell you I am concerned by this edit.

There's no edit summary. I was trying to figure out why a sourced edit was rollbacked. I finally felt out the edit and decided that your reversion was warranted, but a summary would be helpful. A rollback is intended for clear cut vandalism... --intelatitalk 14:14, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

My apologies. I bit the bullet and used the rollback feature in this case simply because it was momentarily faster than manually editing it out. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a preview page so there was no opportunity to leave a proper edit summary. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 17:28, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Ghost in the Shell 2 Innocence and Ghibli

I didn't see why that movie was on the Disney page to begin with, as Disney only co-funded the movie in exchange for Japanese Home Media distribution, like they do with Ghibli's movies over there. Disney are listed on the Production I.G. page for GITS2 though.

By the way, would Ghibli's movies count on that page, or are movies co-funded by Disney or distributed in only a few number of regions excluded? Luigitehplumber (talk) 13:10, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

I would say that most of the Studio Ghibli films should be included on the page because most of them were released under the Walt Disney Pictures banner, and the English dubbing and cast present in them were produced and funded by Disney. I'm all for including them. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 02:10, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
Although just to note, Disney didn't distribute the company's movies in every country in the world. Luigitehplumber (talk) 12:19, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
Correct. We would have to make note of that and list Disney's release dates, not the original Japanese ones. ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 17:20, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of File:Tron Uprising Soundtrack.jpg

The file File:Tron Uprising Soundtrack.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Tron: Uprising#Music. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE and MOS:TVPRODUCTION.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:38, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
