As it is now, the image has to be deleted per CSD I3. Can you email him again and see if he will release the image under a free license? See GFDL or Creative commons for more on that. Also please do not include things from email headers such as email addresses and IP numbers. You are violating not only the other person's privacy, but also your own. ok, thanks; i'll write and ask him to make the file available under a specific license. i understood the image use policy page to say that it was enough that the author said he agreed to its use on wikipedia; i must have misread. posting his complete message with headers was the best way i could think of to show that i had actually received permission from him. how else can i prove that i have really spoken to him, and i'm not just saying i have permission?
