editThe article clearly describes the definition of process engineering. However, there might be different definitions from different resources or books. Therefore, it is important to present relevant references; where this definition comes from. For the description of process engineering and process system engineering, this article ignores to present references.
The article provides interesting historical backgrounds about process engineering. However, it needs to explain why process engineering is important as well. History of process engineering and process systems engineering should be placed in the first part of the article. After that area of focus in process engineering section should be described.
There are extensive of theories for process engineering (PID control, overshooting, and generic controls). The article should briefly explain about those theories. editProcess engineering is one of the conventional fields in chemical/ mechanical engineering. Now, techniques from process engineering are used in a wide of applications. 1. Simple but strong definition is required. As of now, the definition of process engineering is too long, and this makes readers confused. Also, some sentences in the introduction section are overlapped with the definition. 2. You explain areas of the process engineering and then show the history of process engineering. The order should be revised. First, explain history or background, and then describe areas of the same. This will enable readers to access the article easily. 3. Figures are required and minimize mathematical formulas. Wikipedia articles are designed not for experts but for beginners of the field. Mathematical formulas will make them confused. editThan you. I made the suggested cosmetic changes. I added more detail to the initial section and the overview section. I'm planning on adding a section of specific processes as you have suggested.
