Edit conflict

edit

@Jem, just wanted to notify you i had an edit-conflict while editing List of ongoing armed conflicts. I had made a large scale revert to another user, but most of your edits were later restored. Please continue to contribute to the article.GreyShark (dibra) 10:02, 12 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Jem, one more thing, which would make your edits more helpful: when you edit the conflicts page (like here), please remember also to update the {{ntsh|xx}} field, where xx is the low estimation of the casualties. Thanks!GreyShark (dibra) 18:02, 12 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of terrorist incidents, 2014, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mahmoudiyah (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Using sources

edit

First of all, thanks for your good work on List of ongoing armed conflicts article. I would like however to clarify that in wikipedia it is forbidden to use wikipedia articles as sources, like you did in this edit. It is also forbidden to use self-published information, personal blogs and sites which cannot be verified. Generally, mass-media sources (specifically those with editorial board like CNN, BBC, ABC, etc.), academic sources (universities and works published by scholars), government or official data sources (like ministries and institutes) are considered reliable. It is also important to note that many users confuse reliable sources and POV sources - reliable source can be POV (as long as it is verified, or in case of media has an editorial board) and still has a place on wikipedia. The terrorist attacks in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan should be removed from List of terrorist incidents, 2014 and moved to Terrorist incidents in Pakistan in 2014, Terrorist incidents in Iraq in 2014 and the Terrorist incidents in Afghanistan in 2014

I won't revert you, but ..

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
