Hello Jenreflect- please ensure that the reference for the Noongar translation of The Ode is clearly attributed to Leonard Collard.
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Users:Jenreflect/sandbox/Wadumbah, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.wadumbah.com.au/about.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. Delete pleaase
editYou have created many pages that you what to be part of your sandbox but the prefix is wrong. It needs to be User:Jenreflect/sandbox/name of article not users:jenreflect/sandbox/name of article Please go through and move all pages to an appropriate title also don't make any more without the right prefix. Your draft subpages
editI have moved these to the correct titles:
- User:Jenreflect/sandbox/Karla Hart
- User:Jenreflect/sandbox/Noongar Radio
- User:Jenreflect/sandbox/Kwarbah Djookian
- User:Jenreflect/sandbox/Wadumbah
The "sandbox" in those titles is not essential, though it's not a problem. You could have draft sub-pages with titles like "User:Jenreflect/Karla Hart" if you like. A good way to make one is to click on "Help:Userspace draft" and fill in the title (e.g. in that case, you would fill in "Karla Hart").
Notability
editRead WP:Your first article for advice. Note in particular that Wikipedia is quite choosy about subjects for articles. The test for admission is called Wikipedia:Notability, and is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought it significant enough to write substantial comment about? More at WP:Notability (people) and WP:Notability (summary).
I have not read all your draft ages, but I gather they are about a particular group and its members. If you have difficulty finding reference to show notability for the individual members, you might do best to concentrate on an article about the group. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 09:27, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hello John
- Thank you for your advice. I had been working under the assumption that any pages created in my own sandbox were not public so it has been a very big suprise to find that they indeed are! Can you please advise me on how to create pages that are not available for any other viewers until they have been completed and correctly formatted and copyright attributed? Is it simply a matter of including 'draft' in the user title?
- With thanks
- Jennie
- Everything on Wikipedia is public, in the sense that it is visible to anyone, but only articles in the "main space", those without a prefix like "User" or "Wikipedia", form part of the main encyclopedia and are likely to be seen by the casual reader.
- Userspace draft pages are only likely to be looked at by people actually working on the encyclopedia. New contributions are looked at by the "New Page Patrol" (volunteers, like everyone here) because of the high levels of vandalism and spamming that any anyone-can-edit project has to expect; but they concentrate mainly on new mainspace pages. Yours were picked up because having "Users" instead of "User" meant that they appeared as encyclopedia articles.
- There is no way to create pages that only you can see; userspace draft pages like yours are visible, but would not be marked for deletion unless they were blatant advertisements, or attack pages, or material obviously not relevant to an encyclopedia, or unless they had been left un-edited for more than six months. So you can continue to work on them without interference.
- Two tips: on talk pages like this, it's usual to make the conversation clearer by indenting successive contributions by adding colon characters : to the front of paragraphs, as I have done here; and it is helpful (on talk pages but not in articles) to "sign" contributions by ending them with a group of four "tilde" characters
~~~~
, which the system will turn into a "signature" of your username and the time and date, like this: JohnCD (talk) 10:08, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
Wrong user space prefix
editHi. You created three pages in the nonexistent namespace Users. They should all be in the User (no "s") namespace. I'm going to move the content into the proper locations and ask to have the originals deleted. —Largo Plazo (talk) 12:40, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
They are now at User:Jenreflect/Ted Wilkes, User:Jenreflect/Middar, and User:Jenreflect/Della Rae Morrison. —Largo Plazo (talk) 12:45, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
