Speedy deletion nomination of Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation
editHello Jewishsarah,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. ubiquity (talk) 23:03, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
advice
editWikipedia is not for the promotion of causes, however valuable the cause. All materials published here amuse be objective, presenting not what the subject wishes others to know, about itself, but what the general reader might wexect to find in an encyclopedia about the subject. The article your contributed was entirely a press release for the organization, copied initially from its own site, using the word "our" to describer its values. This is not acceptable. Even if you had donated the material to use according to WP:DCM it would not be acceptable.
Additionally, Wikipedia requires organizations it covers to be notable according to WP:ORG and WP:GNG- - this required references providing substantial coverage from third-party independent reliable sources, not press releases or mere announcements. Almost all the references in the article were to your center's own publications or press releases. One was a tribute from a personal news service, one thug published in a reputable source, was marked at the top as being a press release, and written by the organizations founder, and the only possibly acceptable source, The LA Times article, mentions the organization only peripherally.
If you can find the necessary sources, and are willing to write an objective article as if you were an outsider, you may try again--but you should do it through the WP:AFC process, according to out WP:COI policy. If you do not have the appropriate sources, there's unfortunatley no point in trying. DGG ( talk ) 00:35, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
Hi DGG, I have spent the past week working on my sources and rewriting the copy. I would like the opportunity to post it, but you have blocked the page. Can you please unprotect it and let me try again? Jewishsarah (talk) 01:39, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Also DGG, I saw you blocked it because I tried too many times, but I was taking your advice by creating a new page and showing who I am. I hope you will uprotect it and give me a second shot! Jewishsarah (talk) 01:41, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- The thing to do is to write it as Draft: Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation. Let me know on my user talk page when you;'re ready, and I will quickly review it. DGG ( talk ) 02:38, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation
editHi, Sarah. Although I tagged the article for deletion, the moderator DGG (talk) was the one who deleted it, and he explains why in the section above this one. Please read WP:NOTDIRECTORY. Wikipedia is not intended to be a listing of every organization, charitable or not. The tone of your article, with its logo and picture of the founders, was promotional rather than encyclopedic -- the sort of thing one would expect to see on the Foundation's homepage. The fact that the "who are we" page of the foundation's homepage was almost your only reference supports this. What you want for Wikipedia is first an assertion of what makes the foundation notable, supported by references from independent, reputable sources. If the foundation is notable, there should be some press coverage. Find some articles about the foundation by people not associated with is, and make those the basis for your article.
On a practical note, if you feel you can make the article non-promotional, you can ask DGG to put the old article in your user space so you can work on it. You can also find a cached version here, but I don't know how long that will be available. ubiquity (talk) 03:46, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
- I see no reason to do that--it was essentially a copy of your own source, which you already have available.
I also mention that according to our WP:Conflict of Interest policy if you have any financial or other direct connection with the foundation, you must declare so on your user page, user talk page, article talk page, or the edit summary. DGG' ( talk ) 05:48, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

another look
edit- It remains equally promotional. Yes, it's an advocacy organization, and the article about hem needs to state their goals, but not as extensively as does this."strives to ensure the Jewish identity and the special affinity to the State of Israel of the young and future Jewish generations " or the equivalent phrase appears multiple times in the article. Nor does praise of the founders belong , e.g. "Adam and Gila Milstein are strong believes in Philanthropy" -- his bio belongs in the article about him, not duplicated here. An "In the News" section is inappropriate in WP articles. Major activities can be included in paragraph form, with references, not formulated as a series of external links. The references must be to external sources not connected with him, except for plain statements of fact. And, as a relatively minor point, the references need to show author title, title of publication, date, as well as the link. I do not see that you have paid the least attention to the previous comments, and I shall list it for speedy deletion as promotional.
In addition, it appears obvious to me that you are a single purpose account dedicated to promoting the interests of Adam Milstein and his charities. WP cannot be used for this purpose. A formal warning follows.
And I once more remind you that if you are in anyway financially connected with the subjects (either Milstein, his foundation, or his business actives), as an employee, consultant, press agent, or in any other manner, you must declare it. Doing otherwise is a violation of our terms of use. DGG ( talk ) 17:33, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Draft:Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
