Notability of Data Translation, Inc.
editA tag has been placed on Data Translation, Inc. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Daltxn (talk) 02:14, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Fred Molinari
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article Fred Molinari, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of Fred Molinari. Daltxn (talk) 02:22, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Sit down and enjoy some yummy..

Adoption
editHi there - I see you have requested to be adopted, and I have volunteered to stand by you. Checking on previous edits, you have only a very few, and of these mainly to one topic. Is there any way you would like me to help you at this moment? Drop me a line on this page - I have put your page on my watch list. At the moment I am fairly involved in the real world, but I will look in on you. All the best! docboat (talk) 08:54, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I see Jfir has not edited for a couple of months now, and my offer of adoption has found no response. Shortly I will remove the {{Adoptme}} template and remove the request from the database. docboat (talk) 09:15, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Template removed due to lack of activity - if you seriously wish adoption, do please leave me a message on my talk page. docboat (talk) 12:22, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi again - good to hear from you re adoption and your article deletion. I have just returned from a long break (work) and will review your contributions to see what can be done to help/improve. All the best. docboat (talk) 02:00, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Docboat, thanks for the response. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.Jfir (talk) 15:28, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Deleted article
editI received an email from someone on this account, inquiring about an article I apparently deleted. The article itself was not identified, so I can't determine which, why, or whether this was the result of an article for deletion, a proposed deletion, or whether I was the person who started the process or closed it.
If you disagree with the deletion for whatever reason, you should inquire about it at Wikipedia:Deletion review. - Smerdis of Tlön (talk) 04:11, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
I just sent you another email because I don't know how to respond on your Talk page. The article in question is Data Translation Inc. Our article was not advertising as you claimed. We are trying to provide relevant, historical information about our company. You punish us by removing our article yet competitors are allowed to remain on the site.Jfir (talk) 22:44, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- Nobody is "punishing" you; even if it feels like it from your perspective. The former article that was deleted was seriously promotional in tone, while Wikipedia articles should be written from a neutral point of view:
The company revolutionized the world of data acquisition systems for the test and measurement market with a new paradigm in analog to digital conversion. ... Data Translation has proved to be a true innovator in the test and measurement market ...
This kind of text does not read like an encyclopedia article, and as such, whether or not your business can be established as notable in reliable sources independent of the business itself, it would have to be totally rewritten from the beginning.
You may also want to review our guidelines about conflict of interest. If the business is notable, it would be best if its article were written by someone independent of it.
To respond on my talk page, just go to my talk pge (the talk link in my signature), and press the new section tab to add a message. - Smerdis of Tlön (talk) 11:46, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
I read articles on Wiki all the time that have a similar tone as the article I tried to submit. I guess we'll find someone else to write the article since you clearly will reject anything we try to submit. Jfir (talk) 22:47, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
