Thank you for uploading this media, (it's appreciated.)

However, it would be nice if you could give some kind of indication as to what license the media is under. That way other people can be confident in making use of it for many varied purposes :)

Adding license information also helps prevent media you've put effort into creating from being deleted :)

You may wish to read Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#For_image_creators which will assist you :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:32, 16 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:Quarter sawn.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Theleftorium (talk) 18:37, 20 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Spar.svg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Spar.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Courbe niveau2.svg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 05:38, 6 June 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 05:38, 6 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sailing!

edit

Hi Jhbdel! Great seeing that you are interested in sailing, me too! So I reverted some of your edits dealing with airfoils and sails, but I added references to support the reverts. Your edits made me consider that large portions of the article are not well sourced, and that could cause some confusion. I think you'll appreciate the new links. Oh, and there are some discussions on the talk page that you may also enjoy dealing with Bernoulli's principle and other airfoil information. Blue skies! Image of airfoil

edit

Hi Jhbdel! In June 2010 you created an image of an airfoil showing streamlines flowing around the airfoil. I noticed your image at Airfoil.

Your image shows the flow approaching the airfoil in parallel streamlines. On reaching the airfoil, all streamlines change direction and curve around the airfoil. Your image shows two stagnation points — one below the chord line of the airfoil, and one above the chord line. For a number of reasons, your depiction of the shape of the streamlines is incorrect.

Over the years, at Lift (force) and Bernoulli's principle, there has been a lot of debate about the shape of streamlines around an airfoil when the airfoil is generating lift. In particular, there has been a lot of acrimony directed at the discredited Equal transit-time theory of lift. Your image of the airfoil and its associated streamlines look a little like some of the images used to support the Equal transit-time theory. For this reason, I have removed your image from Airfoil and replaced it with another image that shows a more accurate depiction of the streamlines around an airfoil.

If you wish to revise your image to show a more accurate shape to the streamlines, and only one stagnation point, I will have no objection to your image being restored to Airfoil and other articles. Happy editing! Dolphin (t) 22:44, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Chesepeake.svg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Chesepeake.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 12:27, 25 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Iraq pol 2004.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Iraq pol 2004.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 16:16, 16 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
