BabyFit and SparkPeople

edit

I see on the talk page for BabyFit that you are an employee of the corporation involved and thus have permission to reproduce the text on the company website. However, the articles as they currently stand are advertisements, which is against Wikipedia policy. If you can recreate the article using reliable sources, they might qualify for inclusion. -- Merope Talk 18:35, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

The problem with the article is that it does not meet Wikipedia's standards for inclusion for websites. Has SparkPeople been mentioned in published sources (excluding press releases)? If so, you'll want to edit that in. (Also, as an aside: we don't sign articles we submit--we just do that for talk pages.) I hope I don't sound too harsh; it's really hard for newcomers such as yourself to know all the policies for inclusion. I'll do my best to help. -- Merope Talk 18:57, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
It looks good. It'll need to be wikified, but I can do that. -- Merope Talk 19:31, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of SparkPeople

edit

A tag has been placed on SparkPeople, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD g11.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. – ornis 16:02, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Leave a note on the talk page justifying why it shouldn't be deleted. – ornis 16:17, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have done so. I am simply trying to write an encylopedic entry for the company SparkPeople, Inc. which runs one of the most visited and highest traffic diet and health sites (per Hitwise and BusinessWeek) as cited in the article. The way I understand it, simply having a site for a company does not violate any guidelines ("Note that simply having a company or product as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion. ").Jknepfle 16:20, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
You'll also note the discussion I had with the original version of this page with Merope, which was resolved. Then, the article was deleted after nearly a year of being on Wikipedia.Jknepfle 16:24, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Just doing my Wikipedia job. There are assertions and proof of notability in the article (Business Week). Contrary to the repost and edit summary, I do have the right to remove the template and will do it again. If a subject is notable enough to probably survive AfD, then it obviously shouldn't be speedied. Smashville 16:54, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SparkpeopleLogo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:SparkpeopleLogo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:33, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Since it seem you may be an employee of SparkPeople, I recommend that you read some of the guidelines below. Deli nk (talk) 18:54, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, Jknepfle. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Deli nk (talk) 18:54, 17 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
