No words in graphics please
editThanks for your editing efforts. Here are two suggestions: 1) cite only reviews and books, except in special cases. This guideline is summarized in WP:SECONDARY. 2) Please put no words into graphics, at least for chemistry articles. The graphics are often used in other language Wiki articles, but doing so is less attractive with English in them. - The idea of finding suitable sources and citing them properly is really important. For example, at Trimethylsilyl, you discuss all sorts of protection and deprotection protocols, but they are all cited by a list of 5 primary-research reports from one research group (and only one total synthesis application). Do they use all these different TMS sources and bases? But then you did not cite the deprotection options. Together, that is a problem of over-citing one set of details, possibly not specifically (or maybe not at all?) citing the individual details in the set, and not citing other details at all. But
- Smokefoot makes a good point, that all you have done is picked (presumably on your own?) a few favorite examples. But as a wikipedia editor, you have to rely as much as possible on "reliable sources" even when choosing examples to highlight. Find a review article or book about this protective group itself, which will then highlight examples that are worthy of mention (first use, uses that demonstrate its usefulness, etc.). Otherwise, what you have now actually fails our WP:NPOV policy for over-weight coverage of one aspect, and judgement wording ("most common" methods).
