Speedy deletion nomination of Community Charter School of Cambridge
editA tag has been placed on Community Charter School of Cambridge, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Status and Advice
editAs reviewing administrator, I did not think the article promotional; please ignore the above inappropriate warning. However, please take a look at some other articles for schools, and expand it suitably, including references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. But do include a link to the school web site. You can also include a photo if you take it yourself--don't copy anything from the school web page. You might want to see our guide to writing Wikipedia articles. DGG ( talk ) 16:37, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, give me a break. Look at the version that prompted the deletion [1]. The entire thing is written as an advert, what the school hopes to do for it's students, where to go for more info, etc.--Terrillja talk 16:46, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- It also might be worth noting the CCSC in the username happens to correspond to the abbreviation of the school's letters. Advert + clearly COI username= warning.--Terrillja talk 16:48, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Many school articles begin life this way. If there's a promotional sentence, I just remove it. Yes, I should have noticed the user name. Assuming for the moment, though, that J martin is a student, we will do anything reasonable to encourage new users, and it is especially important to to warn off younger users , or , for that matter anybody, with mechanical sounding messages. Advice not a warning is appropriate; if you feel you must use a warning use a a first level, not a third level warning; Third level is for outrageous or repeat offenders. username
editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Jmartinccsc, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it contains the name of your school. I suggest that you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. DGG ( talk ) 17:47, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
- Adding
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Adding
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. -- Cirt (talk) 08:02, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
