Minor edits

Help me!

Please help me with... working out how to talk with the editor who commented on something I did before. He has invited me to talk to him on his talk page but there isn't a link to it and I can't work out what to do. Thanks

The editor's signature should contain a link to that editor's user page, user talk page or contributions. User page and contributions both have links to the user talk page near the top. On the user talk page, there is a "new section" tab at the top which you can use to start a new discussion. If the signature does not contain any helpful links whatsoever, you can check the history of the page where the invitation was left to find out who did it - the page history will again have a link to the user's user talk page. (e/c) Hi Joanna. There are many ways to find a user's talk page, to contact them there. I'll set out a number of them.

1. At the very end of this post, I am going to sign my name, which will have a link in it marked (talk) (you will be able to tell it's a link because it'll be in blue). Wherever you talked to the person, see if their signature has a similar link to their talk page.
2. My signature also has a [blue] link to my user page, named by my username. If that link is similarly provided for the user, but not a link to his or her talk page, then clicking on that will bring you to their user page. From there, all you need to do is go to their talk page by clicking on "talk" at the top of the page.
3. Even if neither my user page nor talk page was linked in my signature, once you know my username, all you need to do is type into the search field: User talk:NAME (e.g., for me that would be User talk:Fuhghettaboutit).
4. Ah, but maybe they forgot to sign entirely, so you don't know what their username is? In that case, go to the page where they posted and click on the "history" tab at the top. That will access the page's edit history showing you every edit made to the page, with each username of each contributor, and allows you to see what they contributed. (Familiarity with using page histories is just incredibly all around useful for lots of purposes.) The page history will always provide a link to the talk page of everyone shown in it.
5. You can also study all your own contributions by clicking on the "contributions" tab at the top of this page to track down where you've edited, to in turn, study those pages' histories.

Declaration of paid editing

I am a sole trader providing freelance consultancy services. Very occasionally, those services include ensuring entries in Wikipedia are correct. I have done this twice in my 20 year career as a freelance consultant. Currently, I am working with Allchurches Trust; I anticipate editing the existing Wikipedia entry leading to a fee for an hour of my time. Joanna Biddolph (talk) 15:04, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
