If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Joe Hoeffel‎, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. 2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, JoeHoeffel, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because if you are using a real name, it must not be someone else's name - see WP:REALNAME.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. ukexpat (talk) 21:04, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest: Joe Hoeffel

edit

Hello, Welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for trying to improve Hoeffel's article, but I have to warn you that it is strongly advised that you don't directly edit the article since you work for his campaign. Wikipedia encourages this because it is very hard for a person in your position to edit Hoeffel's article from a neutral point of view, which is one of Wikipedia's core content policies. In addition to this, your candidate might even receive negative press if word got out that his article was being edited by his campaign (this has happened in the past). If you want to contribute to the article, I would encourage you to start a new section on the article's talk page and place {{Request edit}} at the top of the section and then explain exactly what you want changed to the article (and provide sources if any are needed). If your edit is acceptible a neutral editor will make the change to the article for you. Please look over our conflict of interest guidelines for more information about editing with a conflict of interest. Thanks, ThemFromSpace 21:31, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I also replied to your question at the requests for feedback page. ThemFromSpace 21:46, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.
