Preliminary rewrite: P

edit

per DanielCD's suggestion, I've put my draft on a separate page. Joey Q. McCartney 02:06, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • In light of current events, I am withdrawing from the project and am ceasing my contributions to "P" and all other related topics. Good luck with your endeavors my friend. If the article goes down the toilet, I suspect Wikipedia will be attacked in proportion, but it's not my job to defend Ps or Wikipedia. --DanielCD 13:46, 8 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • I am going over paper copies of the original version vs. your version... I would basically say, go for it. I don't have a probem with your version, although the original was OK too. As for specific edits / suggestions... I am actually terrible at that kind of editing, but I would say, make the change, and edits can come later. I do (or will) have specific suggestions, eventually... the wheels grind very slowly here at the Herostratus household. I do think that there ought to probably be a separate article for P'le (rather than just a redirect to P'ia) which might make desirable a merge in from some of the material in P'ia... but that can be done later. re: renames (moves)

edit

Nope, anybody with an account that's been editing more than (I think) five days can rename, by using theMove tab. Since a move automatically creates a redirect link from the old name to the new name, nobody will "lose" the article. What I would do is:

  1. It it's a change to an incontrivertably more correct name, just make the change with an edit summary describing the change and why.
  2. If a bunch of people are editing the article and/or the you're not sure the change is obviously correct, propose it on the talk page, wait a couple days, and rename if no objections.
  3. Only if its something that is likely to be really controverisal -- like, say, I dunno, renaming Gun Control Laws to Anti-Gun Laws or whatever, or a high-profile article (renaming George W Bush to George Walker Bush would light up a lot of user's screens) would you need to set up RFC|Request for Comment. Even then you could probably just use the article talk page.

So what's the article you're gonna move? I DID get ahold of your P changes, I WILL review them soon, sorry I got behind on stuff. Wiki on! Herostratus 16:53, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

thanks for the reply. Not sure whether to reply here or on your page; guess it doesn't matter too much.
I'm actually not sure whether I think a rename, a disambiguation, a merge, or just careful editing would be best, but the article in question is ... . And I figure any action on P.-related topics, other than the most minor edits, has potential to be controversial! Joey Q. McCartney 18:20, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Activism draft

..is here

Hi

I'm glad to see you are still working on this material. It's good to know there are people out there with some sense that still care about keeping things balanced (or at least not outragiously slanted to one side!) --DanielCD 02:20, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

rename

My draft of this is here. Joey Q. McCartney 05:43, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Never mind. Neither subject should have its own article. Joey Q. McCartney 05:49, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

nice idea to collect your refs in one spot. I'd like to see something on OC and BO. I was going to do something with this, but unfortunately tossed the refs a while back. --DanielCD 18:59, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I asked some questions and got a hysterical overreaction in response.
Where have I heard this before. Hyuuck. --DanielCD 19:02, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
let me guess, lol. Joey Q. McCartney 19:18, 17 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Joey Q. McCartney!

Hi, sorry I haven't gotten back to you, I know I've kind of let you down on the P rewrite. It seems I'm constantly clearing my desk of one thing or another... I am getting there... Herostratus 07:23, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Don't worry, Herostratus. Real-world demands are taking a lot of my time anyway. Joey Q. McCartney 01:00, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

The best for last...

edit

Hello Joey Q. McCartney : ) Sorry so long getting back to you. Actually, I have half an email written to Jimbo myself. I am going to share it will Herostratus before I send it. Be glad to share it with you too. I been distracted by a new arb comm case and an old one that is coming back to life [1] Also, I've been re-reading the administrator guidelines in anticipation of accepting a nomination soon. So you can see I'm juggling quite a few balls right now. That’s why I asked if we could slow the decision making down a little bit.

I saw your last comments on the project page. P.A.W. might work. I’m glad to see that you are interested in monitoring the articles for pov-pushers. The larger the group the better. We have a large number of articles to watch. Regards, FloNight talk

Yay for Joey Q McC

Yay for you, you have been busy doing good stuff. Regarding the article CS, I have been looking at it for a while and I see some areas for significant improvement. I think the step is a restructuring -- I think over the course of editing, it's become kind of kludged together and the overall structure has been lost. Anyway I noted that on the talk page, and I put a draft of how it might be structured -- without changing anything, just moving stuff around -- at PAW/CS (draft). Naturally any comments from you are gold. Herostratus 23:29, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
