Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page Australian Citizens Party, have removed content without a good reason to do so. Content on Wikipedia should not be removed just because you disagree with it or because you think it's wrong, unless the claim is not verifiable. Instead, you should consider expanding the article with noteworthy and verifiable information of your own, citing reliable sources when you do so. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, JohnBird4Freo. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. AntiDionysius (talk) 09:11, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks AntiDionysius - very kind of you to reply. The trouble is this Wikipedia entry for Australian Citizens Party was set up in Wikipedia's early days by an ex-staff member of Australian Citizens Party who went to work as a staffer for the National party. It is filled with vitriol and rudeness. It needs cleaning up and can't merely be added to. Best wishes John JohnBird4Freo (talk) 09:19, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Nonetheless, your conflict of interest means you shouldn't edit it directly. If you think material should be changed or removed, you should request that on Talk:Australian Citizens Party. You'll need to explain why any removal is justified, especially when material is supported by sources. Your edits have not so far done that, which is why I reverted them. Thanks AntiDionysus (Anti-first bishop of Athens? What does it mean?) I really don't mind who does it. It's just that allegations of brainwashing, conspiracy and sexual impropriety are really unhelpful. It's certainly true that many ACP doctrines won't appear on CNN, but that just means "non-mainstream" and doesn't merit vitriol. Will Talk"Australian Citizens Party " do the job? Best wishes John JohnBird4Freo (talk) 09:34, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
No problem (it's a perhaps overly-obscure reference to Dionysius I of Syracuse as featured in the story of The Sword of Damocles).
Yep, head on over to the talk page and explain what you'd like changed and why, and someone will pick it up. There's a guide to such requests here if you'd like some guidance, but it's pretty intuitive: here's who I am and what my relation to the subject is, here's what I think should be changed, here's why (with reference to sources if necessary). Best of luck! AntiDionysius (talk) 09:39, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks very much I'll give it a try. What happens when after I propose these changes and why? JohnBird4Freo (talk) 09:44, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello AntiDionysius I've written in Talk:Australian Citizens Party as you suggested. Could you check I've done it right (as you've probably discerned I'm a complete novice with Wikipedia, but I'm amazed this Wikipedia ACP entry got accepted and has come this far). What happens next?.. Best wishes JohnBird4Freo (talk) 04:46, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
