This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, John Prescot, matches the name of a well-known living individual. Note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated; not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Rodhullandemu 16:33, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

If unblocked, I will admit that I'm not John Prescott on my user page rather than copying his article.

Decline reason:

Somehow you have managed to find the wrong template to use (have you edited much before?), please refer to your block notice and use the correct unblock template  Ronhjones  (Talk) 18:13, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You did not copy his article, you redirected John Prescott to your user page. That is blatant vandalism. Do you not understand that? –MuZemike 17:55, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I copied the contents of John Prescott to my user page. As they saw the same thing anyway, do those edits matter? John Prescot (talk) 17:59, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
You don't "move" an article to your userspage (which is misspelled) and force people to edit your userpage to edit that page. –MuZemike 18:04, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't stop them editing my userpage anyway. So what's the problem with that? John Prescot (talk) 18:08, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
User pages are not the place for articles; the Wikipedia mainspace is where articles go, and properly spelled. If you do not understand that, then I am afraid you will remain blocked. –MuZemike 18:10, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Alright, I'll understand that articles have to be spelled right. John Prescot (talk) 18:11, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Do you also understand that "moving" articles to your user page in the manner in which you did is wrong? –MuZemike 18:16, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
