Shaker Heights
editI see we've been both improving the article a lot. I do however, would like to make some comments.
1. The "Notable Residents" section. While the Featured-Articles San Francisco, California and Cleveland, Ohio both have lists of notable residents, it doesn't require an extra section heading. I have linked to the famous residents article in the introduction (under Shakerites).
2. The See also section should be used for internal wikilinks (a blue link, like this). The external links should be used for those on other sites. Also, if possible, use internal links.
3. Make sure to cite all of the information that you add.
I will make some changes, and I encourage you to respond on my talk page. Thanks! Also, are you from Shaker? SpencerT♦C 12:01, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- Notable residents... I personally wouldn't use Greenwich, Connecticut as a model, as it's B-Class. Nothing wrong there, but Cleveland, Ohio is FA-Class and also closer to home. It doesn't make a separate section for residents, as there is a list. Same with San Francisco, California, another FA. While it has a list, I can't even find a link from the San Francisco page. Another FA-class article is Houston, Texas, that links to their list of famous people in passing (See Culture section). Detroit, Michigan, another FA, doesn't have a list in the article. I don't have a problem with calling attention to Notable or Famous people from the community, I just want to have similar features to other Featured-Article class articles. How about this: Once we add a culture section, we'll put See also: List of people associated with Shaker Heights, Ohio. See Houston, Texas#Culture for an idea of what it would look like. Do you think that would work? We'll leave the notable residents section as-is until a culture section in added. SpencerT♦C 22:45, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think I'll change the title of the list, I'll probably just include a line in the lead that goes like this: "The following is a list of natives, residents and former residents" which accomplishes the same thing...a shorter title makes an article easier to find.
- Regarding of the image you showed, I am unsure of its copyright status, so it's best not to upload those. I might bring a camera around Shaker and take some photos if I get the time, however, the high amounts of snow delay photo taking. See Wikipedia:Public domain image resources for possible places to find photos. See this, as I believe these are all public photos. I think.
- I do live in Shaker. SpencerT♦C 12:11, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
