Sandbox article
editHi, I wanted to let you know that I moved your work back to your sandbox. I did this for a few reasons, which I'll detail below.
- The most major issue is that this page looks to be redundant to the existing article on the Current state of polygamy in the Latter Day Saint movement. While I'm sure that there are non-Mormon polygamists in Utah, your article dealt predominantly with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As such, it would be better to see what could be merged into the article as opposed to creating a new one.
- This needs to better fit Wikipedia's writing style and formatting. It also needs to be edited for grammar, as there are things like who's instead of whose.
- Be careful when you link to articles. At one point you linked to Tom Green the actor rather than Tom Green (polygamist).
Sorry about this, but please don't move this back live. I would instead work on improving the existing article. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:16, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
Possible layout for the merge
editHi, I wanted to give you a possible layout for the merge, since it's easier to format a more clear style here. The layout I imagine would be like this:
- Header saying "Evolution of polygamy laws"
- This short into paragraph would generally cover the early history of polygamy laws in the United States. You can get that history here and summarize it in this article. You can definitely use the sourcing in that article, if you like. Just make sure that you're not adding anything new without a new source to back it up. Also don't worry about close paraphrasing since you're summarizing a Wikipedia article. Just make sure that you state in the edit summary that you summarized some of the content from another article.
- Subsection header reading Polygamy bills
- This can generally be the evolution section, with the headers for each bill turned into a sub-subheader. I've added these headers to your article to separate the bills.
- Section header reading Prominent legal cases
- This will go over the legal cases, which I've also separated into headers. Originally I was going to say this should be part of the law section, however this is something that could probably be its own section. Since all of the people involved have been brought to court in one way or another, I've labeled it legal cases. This could be added verbatim, for the most part.
As mentioned, I've done some tweaking. I think that the only part you would really need to write from scratch would be the little short intro paragraph. I hope that this helps you! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:35, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
