I am the cousin of Gearoid O'Sullivan. I know that he died in 1948 (and that is the date that has been published in numerous books -- usually about Michael Collins -- including the one by Coogan. I think the person who keeps changing the date of death back to 1994 is mistaking Gearoid Sr. with Gearoid Jr., who provided testimony on his father's behalf for the Military Archives and was, at that time, a clerical student. He later became a priest and accepted medals on behalf of his father, which hang in a building in Skibbereen, the largest town from Gearoid Sr.'s family home (which was burned down). I am conducting extensive research among families and official sources and will gladly contribute to this page, including photos, etc., when I have completed my research.
However, I would love to get in touch with the person who was started to work on this page. Please get in touch with me at jonihnj@aol.com.
