License tagging for Image:Hamilton high school LAUSD.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Hamilton high school LAUSD.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 08:09, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

El Salvador article

While it is understandable that you find the vandalism of the El Salvador article frustrating, please don't add an {{sprotect}} tag to the page. The addition of the tag does not protect the page. The new portal on El Salvador

edit

Dearest Jorobeq,

I have recently created a portal of El Salvador. I was hoping, because of your heritage and Salvadoran-related contributions, that you could help me make the Portal better by adding something I have not already posted. You see, I myself had lived there, but I have not been in the country for a while, so I am writing to you in hopes that you could expand some of the sections (particularly Quotes and News), and others if you wish. I am confident you will make a good decision, so we can bring knowledge of El Salvador to wikipedia, and the world. BashmentBoy

Saludos ... y felicidades en tu nueva aventura académica. :) I'm writing to say that most of the articles currently tagged with the Wikipedia:WikiProject El Salvador tag are unassessed. It shouldn't be hard to fix this, as most are stubs. It's just tedious. So I wanted to request that each person either spend a little time doing this specific task, OR at least stop and do it each time you visit an article that's part of the project. Hope you're enjoying life in Japan! Lawikitejana 19:04, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Ktla cw tv.JPG)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Ktla cw tv.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Dear Jorobeq,

I have finally been able to visit La Prensa Grafica's website, laprensagrafica.com. This is a very good place to find news. From now on, the news section in the El Salvador portal will be updated more frequently than the rest (instead of once a week, we might try once every three days). Thought you'd might like to know. Metromedia

edit

What may not be obvious to you and Mr. Pibb is that this is the way we in the Wikipedia television and radio community have been formatting these station charts for a long time. While what the two of you view as "redundant" may seem so to you, a whole bunch of us don't seem to think so. That puts you and Mr. Pibb in the minority.

I have explained to Mr. Pibb that the station charts have long been formatted in this manner (you don't fix what isn't broken, right?), and instead of understanding my position he went ahead and continued making these changes, over and over again. He is obviously using the Metromedia article as his means of proving a point, which is not allowed here. I have asked administrator Firsfron to step in and mediate this situation again, and I have also requested the article to be protected until further notice. Metromedia edit war

edit

Please don't continue the edit war at Metromedia. Only three editors have weighed in at the talk page, which may not be enough to conclude that a consensus has been reached. I understand that user:Rollosmokes reverted to his version, but that is no excuse to revert to your preferred version. I would ask that you let consensus be reached, then edit the page. This edit war has lasted weeks, and it doesn't need to continue any further. Firsfron of Ronchester 05:23, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your comments here. I am hoping that everyone involved will comment there, and that this dispute can at last be settled. Best wishes, Firsfron of Ronchester 06:34, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Map of neighborhoods

That's a great map - I wish I could help you with the glitches but I don't know anything about that field. I would make the comment that it isn't clear that Santa Monica and Beverly Hills are separate cities. Also, would it be possible to add numbers to each place so that a key can be made identifying the names? Also, thanks for contributing the photos. -Will Beback · · 23:12, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Metromedia Television suggestion

edit
  • That's a good idea which I've taken care of, Unfortunately though User:Rollosmokes has come in and reverted my edits without properly discussing it. Apparently he still thinks that this is his article and that he has the final say on what can and cannot be put on the page and he doesn't even openly discuss it on the Talk page like he should. 66.208.237.200 17:34, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Hamilton Music Academy Logo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Hamilton Music Academy Logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:04, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Hamilton Alex.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Hamilton Alex.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).

I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.

If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!

If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.

Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 00:05, 10 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Sunshine city Ikebukuro.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Sunshine city Ikebukuro.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hello, Jorobeq. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
