Is anyone able to upload an image for me?
This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
I am wanting to have an image of an album cover added to the info box of this article, but have never been able to figure out the form that has to be filled out to do this. The image can be found here [1]. Would anyone be able to help me with this? --Jpcase (talk) 02:53, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
- Just curious, have you tried using Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard? It's very easy to use. Just stating the obvious but you'd have to mark it for fair use since it's copyrighted. I marked it as "helped" but feel free to re-add {{helpme}} if you're looking for more assistance. Cheers, — dainomite 05:58, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've tried, but haven't really understood how to fill it out. I have know idea who took the picture, but assume that the copyright is held by the record label, so should I put them in the Author section? And I have no idea what to write in the box asking how use of the file will be minimal. Sorry, I know that I should probably be able to figure this out, especially since I've been on Wikipedia for quite a while, but uploading images has just always confused me and I want to be careful not to do anything wrong since copyright laws are involved. --Jpcase (talk) 15:51, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
- I have uploaded the image to File:DeWyze_Frames_Cover.jpg. The chosen parameters were:
- Author: "presumed to be Vanguard Records" (we want the copyright holder, not the artist)
- Source: URL of the Amazon image
- Minimal use: "Low-resolution image to be used in the infobox of a single article only."
- The "low resolution" is the only tricky part; this particular image was 280x280 pixels large, but had it been larger than 100k pixels in total I would have resized it to something below that limit. Huon (talk) 20:59, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi.
Two things about the article you requested assessement on; Firstly, you are suppossed to sign your request but more importantly, certainly the article could be a C but it lacks the personnel section so it can take off. Other thing that is only optional but is ok, is to put the reception template in the section. Zidane tribal (talk) 04:57, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry for forgetting to sign my request; I've taken care of it. Thanks for pointing that out.
- By "reception template" do you mean the box that shows how many stars the album was given by each review? If so, I'm not really sure that would be worth adding, since only two of the reviews used a star system. I'll try to add a Personnel section tomorrow though. --Jpcase (talk) 05:34, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
- I've added the personnel section. Thanks for the suggestion. --Jpcase (talk) 19:21, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- The article is quite good, i can suggest pictures, rating template and sound sample. Besides that the more importnat part is always content and manual of style. Zidane tribal (talk) 18:20, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
- I've added the personnel section. Thanks for the suggestion. --Jpcase (talk) 19:21, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
Méliès brothers
- Well the ref to the Méliès brothers not talking to each other (after the Star Co. went broke I think, perhaps not after the footage sent back to Gaston's son in America was found to be unusuable, which Georges in France (?) may not have known about immediately) was from the article on Georges Méliès, Later life and decline section; Ref 2, though I have not myself seen the book by Wakeman) Hugo999 (talk) 05:03, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
Star Film Company
I looked back through the Texas Hollywood book and could not find the information that was referenced. I found similar but slightly different information in the Star Film Ranch book so I changed it to what I found there and changed the reference to that book. I just added the reference to the extra info on the bad reviews. Same book Star Film Ranch -Regards Nv8200p talk 03:27, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, the Texas Hollywood has similar information. They say "unfortunately, audiences hated the films" whereas Star Film Ranch book says "Critical comment in the trade press grew worse..." Only the Star Film book talks about the condition of the negatives. Do you think both sources should be referenced? Nv8200p talk 04:35, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
- Rewrote the paragraph based strictly on what I found in The Star Film Ranch book. Nv8200p talk 23:52, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yes. The Star Film Ranch also states "...the films...would not find an appreciative audience." Nv8200p talk 00:21, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Animation Barnstar - Good Proposal
Hi Jpcase! I love your idea about introducing a barnstar for Animation. I love animation and it was one of the integral parts of my childhood. And I'd definitely love nothing more than to work on making this happen. But at the moment, I'm a bit occupied with other stuff. But in a week's time, I will be working my full potential to make this happen. Yours. NiRinsanity 05:39, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
- I agree this is a great proposal and i'll like to see it happen ;) ElectroPro (talk) 15:11, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
- I would support the creation of an Animation barnstar. Perhaps the design could include the logo for {{WikiProject Animation}} in the center of the star? Fortdj33 (talk) 13:13, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- I also support the idea. The other barnstars are just too limited for all the animation-related topics WP covers. Paper Luigi T • C 06:30, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
- Please add my support for this! Ogram (talk) 17:45, 11 December 2013 (EST)
- Add another vote in favor of the animation barnstar. Wrk3 (talk) 05:20, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

- Thank you Nirinsanity, ElectroPro, Fortdj33, Paper Luigi, Ogram, and Wrk3 for your support! I'll start up a discussion about this at the Wikipedia Awards WikiProject soon, so that an official consensus can be reached, but it might be good if we have a design ready first. I wouldn't know how to make one myself, so let me know if any of you are able to do this. I really like Fortdj33's suggestion of using the WikiProject Animation logo, but if anyone has any other ideas, feel free to share them.
- I don't know how many people are needed for a new barnstar to gain acceptance, so if any of you know other editors who might be interested in supporting this, please spread the word and have them message me here. I'll let each of you know on you own talk pages once I decide to officially begin the proposal. :) --Jpcase (talk) 06:34, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Okay Jpcase, here's a first stab at it. This is merely a proof of concept. Everything about the design is open to suggestions for improvement. Animation Barnstar v0.1 Wrk3 (talk) 18:09, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you Wrk3. Adding a "W" to the logo is a really nice touch. I think that blue looks good for the "W", but I'm not so sure about that color for the circle. Could we try black for that part instead? -Jpcase (talk) 17:54, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
- I apologize for taking so long. Here is version two, using black for the animation drawing disc while keeping the "W" blue. Wrk3 (talk) 03:30, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. I personally think that works better. There's still a blue outline around the circle though. Anyway that could be removed? --Jpcase (talk) 04:36, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
- Ooh, you're right. That was sloppy. Okay, here's an update. Animation plate is now all black. Version three. Wrk3 (talk) 03:48, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
I'm really sorry for taking so long to respond. I don't know if any of you guys are still working on this. I liked the one made by Wrk3. But I have another idea. Since it's possible to make animated barnstars as well (for example The Tireless Contributor Barnstar), I thought what could be better than making an animated barnstar for our purpose. I'll try to design one and display it in a few days. Until then I'm desperate for ideas from anyone. Leave a message on my talk page if anyone has any ideas. NiRinsanity 17:31, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for bringing this back up! I had been meaning to go forward with the idea quite a while ago, but have had a lot of distractions over the last couple of months, and it just got away from me. Sorry that it's been so long. I like your idea, and am looking forward to seeing it! We can check with Wrk3 and the others (if they are still available to comment) on which design they want to use, and then go from there. I'll try to start the proposal at Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedia Awards soon. :) --Jpcase (talk) 19:34, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Frames (Lee DeWyze album)
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Frames (Lee DeWyze album) you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Your GA nomination of Frames (Lee DeWyze album)
The article Frames (Lee DeWyze album) you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Frames (Lee DeWyze album) for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. RE: Animation Barnstar
Since I created this barnstar three years ago so I thought to have it around. I would possibly notify any WikiProjects that accept the barnstar. I have no objection support it since mom does not want me to talk to users on the web. I've been around the Animation WikiProject for four years. Since I added a peer review, A-Class, collaboration, outreach and newsletter subpages so I could model after WikiProjects like Anime and manga, Military history and United States but some it is not that active due to lack of shortage of reviewers. I would like to restore a Nicktoons article from its AFD that you mention some of the sources a year ago. JJ98 (Talk) 07:52, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
Transformers G1 Toy line edits
Mark Bellamo's book incorrectly lists Sideswipe and Sunstreaker's alt modes. Sideswipe's G1 mold and deco are from the Diaclone sub-line Car Robots, specificially the "#15 New Countach LP500S" toy. The "New" Countach was not a prototype car, nor was it a mash-up of the LP400 and LP400S (this is easily verified by several Lamborghini websites). Technically, Sunstreaker's alt mode would be a prototype/custom because the Countach was never made with an exposed rear engine as seen on his original Diaclone and G1 toys. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Noalot (talk • contribs) 16:56, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
Return of the Animation Barnstar
Hi, Jpcase, sorry for the long delay in replying. Yes, I've been absent for a while. When I hadn't heard anything about the graphics, I removed them. I've now uploaded the third version so it will remain available. Let me know if you want copies of the earlier versions.
Wrk3 (talk) 14:40, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you Wrk3! I'm very, very sorry about how long it took me to go about this. The whole past year has been hard for me, and sadly, I wound up neglecting a lot of important projects on Wikipedia. This design is excellent! Really, thank you! The proposal is well underway, and hopefully it can reach its end soon, now that we can show this to everyone there. --Jpcase (talk) 14:55, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
A Barnstar for you
Your Opinion is More Important than You Think Barnstar | ||
Y'know, a lot of times people see Talk: pages as debates, or as places where arguments happened. You, with a single post, saw the benefit of actually discussion. For caring enough about the Talk: namespace to actually try to discuss issues with editors with whom you disagree, and doing it so successfully, it is my pleasure to award you this Barnstar Achowat (talk) 07:14, 21 October 2014 (UTC) |
- Thank you Achowat! This really means a lot! It's been a pleasure going through the Animation Barnstar proposal process with you. --Jpcase (talk) 16:10, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
- And thank you too. JJ98 (Talk) 19:05, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for the cookie!
It was delicious. :) I'm happy you finally brought the Animation Barnstar to fruition. Now as for Dexter's Laboratory, I would love to see that nominated for FA again. Honestly I didn't feel it was ready for it before--at least the critique I got helped me improve the article--but now it may be ready for another nomination. The controversial "Rude Removal" coming to light was fairly recent when I did that nom, meaning many changes were happening and much confusion over that specific segment, but the dust has settled since. If we consider a potential nomination, I would definitely want to go through the List of Dexter's Laboratory episodes article as thoroughly as possible and check for any glaring mistakes. I read somewhere that any FA with transclusions (such as the episode table being transcluded in the "Episodes" section) must have the transcluded articles designated FA too. I can't remember exactly where I heard this rule though, so for all I know it could be outdated. I know you've said you don't have time to get personally involved (and I really don't have much time for it either), but I've put more effort into Dexter's Laboratory than any other article on WP. If it actually made FA I would be proud. Paper Luigi T • C 07:11, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
- @Paper Luigi: I highly doubt that the transclusion rule you mentioned still exists - Ed, Edd n Eddy made FA before List of Ed, Edd n Eddy episodes made FL. Anyway, most of my time is committed to SpongeBob SquarePants right now, as well as a few other odds-and-ends that I have going on. Getting Dexter's Laboratory to FA is definitely on my to-do list, but it will likely take me a few months at least, before I can devote long-term efforts toward that goal. I'll drop you a message whenever that time comes. :) Jpcase (talk) 23:38, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

Okay, that edit was a mistake. :) I was removing Category:Media franchises from numerous categories and articles where it did not apply at all, like An American Tail: Fievel Goes West and Category:San Diego, California, and I guess I got sloppy. I'll go through and review my edits. Trivialist (talk) 18:53, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
Hoodwinked!
Are the Hoodwinked! films based on any fairy tales besides "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Hansel and Gretel"? I removed the general category because they were already in the subcategories. Goustien (talk) 00:11, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Goustien: Yes, the films are based on other fairy tales as well. Although the first film is essentially a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, both films incorporate a variety of characters from other fairy tales. The second film is more akin to Shrek, in that it tells a wholly original story simply built around fairy tale characters.--Jpcase (talk) 00:25, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
Lee DeWyze & Folk rock albums by American artists
If that's the case, wouldn't it be prudent to also remove that category from his eponymous albums category? That was why I removed it from the album article. LazyBastardGuy 18:10, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
- @LazyBastardGuy: It doesn't seem that Live It Up (Lee DeWyze album) actually is categorized as folk rock. The Lee DeWyze albums category is categorized as folk rock though, which may or may not be appropriate - I don't work with categories very much, so I'm not sure what the common practice is regarding them. If a category for an artist's albums should only belong to a category for a genre when all of that artist's albums belong to said genre, then feel free to remove the folk rock category from the Lee DeWyze albums category. --Jpcase (talk) 18:25, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
