Hi! I deleted the material from The Scarlet Letter because it doesn't have any sources. Wikipedia requires that material such as that be verified using reliable sources. Does your professor want you to write an opinion essay, or to do research? If opinion, then wikipedia isn't the place for it. But if you're doing a research assignment, then your college databases and library might have information that supports your work. Also, see this about information not to add to Wikipedia. I'll add your page to my watchlist so you can reply here, but I won't be online for a few days after tonight. Truthkeeper88 (talk) 20:40, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Truthkeeper has asked that I help you out on Wikipedia as he's busy at the moment. Please be aware that edits made to Wikipedia articles are live, meaning that all viewer's of the page, in this case the 3000 daily viewers of The Scarlet Letter will see your addition. For this reason, all contributions should follow Wikipedia policies and guidelines.
- Your contribution constituted original research which is not allowed to mainspace articles. If you can find reliable sources and references to back up your statements in addition to rewriting the addition in a neutral tone then the addition will be kept. Otherwise, you can only keep your contribution in userspace (this is space that is separate from the article space)...I've copied over your contribution + article to User:Jrockwell3/The Scarlet Letter.
- You state that this is a school project...is it listed at Wikipedia:School and university projects? If you need any further help, please leave a reply here or at my talk page: User talk:Smallman12q. Hope this helps.Smallman12q (talk) 01:47, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
A User page in the article categories
editYour User subpage, User: Jrockwell3/The Scarlet Letter, appears in the category:1850 novels. This is a violation of WP:USERNOCAT. I can understand how one might inadvertently keep the categorization active in a userfied page. Could you please fix it?
Putting the instructions <nowiki> (categories here) </nowiki> before and after the list of categories should fix it. Do you want help? --Fartherred (talk) 15:21, 9 September 2010 (UTC) If you come back to your user account, I hope you find Wikipedia helpful. Your user subpage has been fixed to not show up in article categories. --Fartherred (talk) 18:08, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
