Edit summaries

edit

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you.--220 of Borg 05:57, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to 1st Negros Oriental Infantry Battalion (Ready Reserve) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

Ways to improve Scout Ranger Qualification Badge

edit

Hi, I'm Polyglot. Judgedtwice, thanks for creating Scout Ranger Qualification Badge!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The citation doesn't help me to confirm veracity of the article

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Polyglot (talk) 05:45, 19 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Judgedtwice, We need verifiable sources. Otherwise anybody could just claim anything at all (and this happens, unfortunately more often than we'd wish). I also think it would be nice to have an article on, say the Tagalog WP about the subject. Maybe you can also add a language template on your user page, then we have an idea whether you speak Tagalog. --Polyglot (talk) 08:47, 19 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Quezon City Police District may have broken the syntax by modifying 5 "()"s and 5 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/1st Technical & Administrative Services Unit (Ready Reserve), a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/1st Technical & Administrative Services Unit (Ready Reserve) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/1st Technical & Administrative Services Unit (Ready Reserve) during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Peacemaker67 (send... over) 03:35, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Actually, as Newyorkbrad has suggested, could you just replace the mfd template at the top of that page with "db-g7" but in the wriggly brackets, that will nominate the page for speedy deletion under criteria 7. Only you can do it, as you created the page. Thanks, Peacemaker67 (send... over) 00:24, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:WikiProject Fire Service

edit

Hello and good afternoon (at least it is afternoon where I am). I was looking at the Wikipedian firefighters category and noticed that you are one of the members of the Wikipedia community that lists yourself as being a firefighter. First and foremost let me say thank you for your service. While I myself am not a firefighter, I do work as a photographer with multiple local fire departments. I am honored to have firefighters as some of my closest friends.

I have been taking an active role in the Fire Service WikiProject and am trying to recruit more members to this cause. If this is something you have any interest in, please let me know? You can leave me a message on my talk page. Obviously there is zero obligation. An interest can be anything from helping out with a couple of pages in your local area to helping to overhaul major templates, and anything in between.

Once again, thank you for your service. Hope to hear from you soon. Stay safe! --Zackmann08 (talk) 17:52, 10 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

March Madness 2017

edit

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
