Linking stock indexes

Why are you changing links to stock indexes from their articles to lists? A link is supposed to provide info on the subject. The subject article does that much better than a list articles. Please stop this and discuss. MB 17:06, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

Generally understand that those clicking on the component link in the info box on a company's article are interested in the complete list (such as the S&P 500) rather than general information about the index itself, which is also succinctly explained on the list articles themselves. It would also be helpful during index changes when editing and switching between the lists and the individual companies involved in the change.

I don't agree that linking to a list of other companies is most useful, especially when the link says "S&P 500 component". That is an WP:EASTEREGG link. Even if the link is clearer, such as S&P 500 component, the links in the infobox are meant to help in understanding this article. If the company is a component of some stock index, a reader clicking on the link is probably unfamiliar with the index and should be sent to the article explaining the index. Linking to list articles is more of a navigation link that might be suitable for the "See also" section. MB 17:56, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
