Is it right that the deaf child creates the signs? Somehow I doubt it and would think that the parent creates the signs with little or no references from other sign languages. Perhaps clarify further how it is the child who creates the sign instead of the parent?RCovell (talk) 18:01, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Similar to above. I think it would be good to clarify the differences in homesigns between a child with deaf parent vs a deaf child with hearing parents. I understand what you mean about the child creating the sign but I think that it need clarification. Like is the child clearly making a sign for something or are parents making signs that the child recognizes and imitates like they would if they were hearing and speaking? It might be more clear if you said about like within each household what happens because when you say that the child is the creator it make it seem like they are using the framework and making all of these signs by themselves. Also maybe clarify what a feral child is by saying that it is when they are being deprived of language and social interaction. I think it will show that the homesigns are beneficial in the development of language and even though it isn't real ASL it isn't depriving them. Becky10 (talk) 17:28, 28 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

I agreed with the above, normally it tends to be parents or someone who does not know how to sign and tries to communicate with their deaf child or deaf people that they know with home signs just to communicate. Otherwise, your wiki looks great! I am excited to have it being published! (Mia)
