Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at User talk:Dual Freq, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. @BillCat Someone actually edited on my section so I was only deleting what someone did to my section.

That was a good-faith comment by someone who probably didn't know how to add a new section heading. It happens a lot with inexperienced users. - BilCat (talk) 17:44, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:1842 establishments in South Carolina

I declined your speedy deletion nomination of Category:1842 establishments in South Carolina. You nominated it using the WP:A3 criterion. That is not a valid criterion to use on a Category. Categories are special pages in that they are used to group articles that contain a similar attribute together. In this case all the articles that are about something that was established in South Carolina in 1842. They way these are built is by adding the category to the article. If you look at the code I used above you will see that preceding the word Category is a colon {:}. On an article you would not add that : and it would add the article to the category page. It does not add this talk page to the category because I added the :. When you look at the Speedy deletion criterion, you will see it broken down into sections. The Criterion that start with an "A" are only allowed to be used in the article namespace. Those starting with "C" are only allowed to be used in the Category namespace. "F" can only be used in the file namespace, "T" in the template namespace and "U" in the userspace. The only group that can be used in multiple namespace is the "G" (general) criterion. Some of them are also limited where you can use them. If you haven't read through all the criterion, you should before adding any more speedy deletion tags. -- GB fan 21:31, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
