Unblock me

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Just A Regular New Yorker (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I am very sorry for abusing my rights as an editor. In the future I will not continue to edit articles in an nonconstructive manner. I frequently use Wikipedia and I appreciate the hard work that editors put into the articles. I also understand that blocking users who vandalize is crucial to maintaining the accuracy of the information provided by Wikipedia. Nevertheless, I believe that I should be unblocked seeing as I deeply regret my immature behavior, and I will not continue to act in this way. In addition, I do have reasons to edit articles. One article in particular about the "SS Bremen" has information that I know is incorrect from eyewitnesses reports, and online references. I know that you may choose to leave me blocked, but please consider my request. I do want to be a helpful contributor to Wikipedia and I promise that from now on I will not vandalize articles.

Decline reason:

Right. Your appreciation for other editors' hard work was why you asked which articles they wouldn't care about before you vandalized some more? Maybe try the standard offer. Huon (talk) 17:42, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

That unblock request wasn't declined. This can be determined by the fact that it is highlighted grey instead of red. The request clearly says that the review was closed, not declined. As the administrator explained to me in an email, he wanted me to redo the request since I used the Unblock Ticket Request System even though my request contained no personal information. At the time I was unaware that was a requirement to use the system. If it is still a problem for me to remove it then please tell me so, and I won't do it again.Just A Regular New Yorker (talk) 00:35, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Help Me

edit

I have been warned that if I attempt to remove my first unblock request from my talk page, I will be blocked from editing my talk page for trying to remove a denied unblock request while I am still blocked. This confuses me because the unblock request I tried to remove wasn't denied. As an administrator explained to me in an email, he wanted me to redo it due to reasons that I was unaware about when I made the request. This is evident since the request is highlighted gray, not red and it says the request was "closed" not "declined". Has a mistake been made, or am I misunderstanding something?

Since regular users can't see the content of your UTRS request and are missing context, I've changed the help request template to {{admin help me}} instead of {{help me}}. Hope that's cool with you. Best, AdA&D 03:27, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
The reason unblock templates need to be left in place when they concern an active block is because later reviewing administrators need to be able to see what the blocked user has previously said in their appeals, and what information has been previously given to the blocked user. Removing the UTRS template, even though it is closed, makes it harder for admins who are reviewing any future unblock requests to see what has already transpired with regards to the block. Therefore, please do not remove the UTRS template from your talkpage; the appeal, although closed with no action, is nonetheless part of the unblock process and needs to be available to future reviewers. I am a blocked user who wants to use the standard offer to get unblocked. Do I need to do something to initiate the offer, or do I simply wait six months without sockpuppetry or block evasion and then submit a standard unblock request?Just A Regular New Yorker (talk) 00:54, 19 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

The latter. Just wait six months, and then file an unblcok request as before (stating, when you do so, that you would like to take the Standard Offer). Other than that, there's nothing special that needs to be done. The six months start from your last edit, so you'll be eligible to request unblock under the Offer any time after April 19, 2018. Just Saying Hi

Hi, Jarny. You can probably figure to who this is. I'm allowed to use a talk page like this, right? I hope so, Admins. If not, know that I don't mean to break any rules.

Block

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Just A Regular New Yorker (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I would like to begin by saying that I deserved to be blocked. I was vandalizing Wikipedia articles, which I now know is unacceptable. Additionally, an administrator had the courtesy to warn me that my actions will result in a block. Not only did I not listen to the administrator, I responded rudely in a matter that proved that I did not intend to edit helpfully. However, I have changed my childish immature ways. To prove that I intend to edit constructively, I have taken up the Standard offer. I have gone six months without any sockpuppetry and block evasion. During this time I have been editing Wikiquote. My edits include the creation the following articles; Fridtjof Nansen, Christina Stead, Nicolas Steno, Philo Farnsworth, Aaron Judge, Bill de Blasio, David Dinkins, Adam Steltzner, Juan Lagares, Zumwalt-class destroyer, Jacob deGrom, James Franck, Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, Manhattan Project, Clair Cameron Patterson, William H. McRaven, Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, Gmail, Charles R. Drew, Bigfoot, Portugal. The Man, and Vaccine controversies. Additionally, I have edited other articles including; Mein Kampf, William Henry Harrison, Holes, Martin Van Buren, David Wright, Derek Jeter, John Adams, Andrew Jackson, Elon Musk, Berlin Wall, Alex Rodriguez, Barack Obama, Clyfford Still, Paul Sweezy, Incorrect predictions, The Establishment, Conversion to Judaism, Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections, Tobbaco industry, and Billy the kid. I have spent much time on Wikiquote welcoming new users, and fighting vandalism. I hope to be able to edit constructively to Wikipedia as well. I believe I have provided sufficient evidence as to the legitimacy of my motives. You may choose to decline this request, but please keep in mind that you have my word that I have truly changed my immature ways. Thank you for taking the time to read my request. (Administrators that I would like my request to be shown to, @Vsmith: @Jimbo Wales:) Just A Regular New Yorker (talk) 13:47, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

Accept reason:

Formally accept this, as it's still showing in the unblock request list. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 17:53, 20 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
