Replaceable fair use File:Idit Harel Caperton, 2010.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Idit Harel Caperton, 2010.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. Idit Harel Caperton

Thanks for your message. Technically, there is nothing to stop you removing the tags if you think that they no longer apply – just know that, if others disagree, they may well be restored. You can use the talk page (which, incidentally, hasn't been updated for quite a while) to state your reasons for removal and discuss the matter with other users.

I will say that, having scanned the article, I believe that the second tag is justified, as a sizeable amount of text is unsourced (e.g., in "Academic Career & Publishing": "Idit was instrumental in figuring out the role and meaning of computational technology for learning, education, and society, and in 1985, Idit and her colleagues at MIT built the first model school of the future, where every student had a PC, worked on creative programming projects, and constructed knowledge through a project-based learning and social interaction." – strong claims require strong sourcing). However, I see substantial numbers of potential references in Google, and several in Google News, so I am inclined to doubt that noteworthiness is a concern.

You may want to re-visit the references that are currently being used, as several of them seem to be by Ms Harel Caperton herself (and are therefore primary sources – for notability to be firmly established, secondary sources are needed). Additionally, the tone of the article is quite promotional in places (see the example sentence above), and the text should be re-worded to refer to the subject as "Harel Caperton" rather than by her first name (see WP:SURNAME). I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

• make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
