For Kadie: Good questions! I'm not really clear from reading the article on what Christian psychology is, exactly. Getting a clear definition would help in determining what is appropriate content for this article. I think that you could at least incorporate some material on psychology and religion as background. My impression is that this topic is most closely related to psychotherapy, so that is probably what you will be focusing on. I think once you define the topic better, it will be more clear how directly Christian counseling relates. You should leave the existing article on Christian counseling alone, but can link to it where relevant. You may even want to add material there, if it is also a stub. J.R. For Hannah: There is already an extensive article on Psychology of religion, and also an article on Philosophy of religion which cover most of the topics you want to expand the article to cover. You can certainly link to those articles where appropriate. Please see my comments to Kadie about defining Christian psychology more clearly. I think you'll be focusing on psychotherapy. Regarding organization, I think overall chronologically, and discuss specific people within the timeframe. J.R. Council (talk) 19:06, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
For Jack: I'm not sure that this is a distinct ideology, but that is a good question to address. See my comments above about defining this topic. It is fine to discuss controversies, as long as the discussion is balanced and you don't take sides. J.R. Council (talk) 19:06, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dr. Council's comments on Assignment 5

  1. To-do list: Makes sense, but you should be more specific about the tasks required and who will be responsible. This will likely save some frustration later.
  2. Outline: You need to differentiate your outline. Adding details will make writing your lead section easier.
  3. References: Right now the reference section is not formatted for Wikipedia. As you add text later, be sure to use the drop-down menu to attach reference citations in appropriate places and format references properly. J.R. Council (talk) 20:33, 22 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Comments on Assignment 6

Katie: You do a very good job with defining Christian Psychology. We might need to tweek our lead section when we find more information. We have a lot to go off on for important psychologists, but will need a little more on how Christianity is incorporated into psychology (Christian Counseling, for example). Otherwise, I really like how clear and organized your lead section is.Hannah.Hood (talk) 14:30, 30 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

First, nice work group! Critiques are good, except you each only commented on one other lead. I think you'll be able to put this together into a nice intro with a little effort.
A specific suggestion: I'm going to go back to earlier comments I made - see top of this page. I think you should be very careful not to write about what you think the topic Christian Psychology should be about, but the most accepted use of the term. From what is already in the article, it looks like this is a particular approach or school of psychotherapy. Jack's lead comes closest to presenting the topic in this way. I could be wrong - maybe there are other accepted uses of the term that come closer to Hannah's or Kadie's lead. However, you need to find out. That means doing more research to nail this down. If you have, and can cite sources to back up your definitions, that's great. J.R. Council (talk) 20:45, 6 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dr. Council's comments on Assignment 7

Hi Group 1, Thanks for clarifying Assignment 7. Here are my suggestions/comments:

  1. You've done a good job on this, but it is a bit long for a lead section. You can cut this down by removing the second paragraph.
  2. Don't delete the second paragraph. Move it to the beginning of the main article. It will make a nice introduction.
  3. Once you do this, you are good to go with developing the rest of the article.

Dr. Council's comments on Assignment 8

edit

Hi Group 1. You've made a nice start. I assume you've edited the lead in section 7 and have started the rest of the article with 'History' in section 8. Lead looks good now. Here are my comments on the rest of the article:

  • The first sentence under History is too 'literary.' I would drop it and begin with the second sentence, which is more to the point. In general, this section needs reference citations. Make sure to do references in proper Wikipedia format.
  • Make sure you link to the main article on Descartes.
  • Again, make sure you back up your statements with proper reference citations.

This article still has a ways to go. You need to flesh out your outline with more material. However, you are heading in the right direction and should have something publishable pretty soon.

Nice work on your article draft. I made a few minor changes, mostly formatting in keeping with the Wikipedia style manual. One thing to consider - when you refer to God, is it worth specifying that you're talking about the concept of God in Christianity and not a more universal concept of a deity? (I don't know, but that strikes me as an important distinction without the field.) Finally - has this been controversial in any contexts? I know that Christian counseling has been controversial at times (especially in cases where it's court-mandated) - while psychology is less of an applied field, it's one of the things that I find myself curious about as a reader. Probably in part because of the bill that was signed in Tennessee today about therapists and LGBT clients. So not critical, just something that (if it exists) a casual reader might be interested it. • Looks like this is ready to publish. Please follow the instructions below Assignment 9 when you do this. I think Ian has some good suggestions for adding to the article, but I'll leave that up to you. Please let me know when you have the article moved over to main article space. J.R.
