Thalapathy 68
According to this report, Thalapathy 68 is going to be Vijay's last film before he enters politics. I know Pinkvilla is not a reliable source for BO but what is your opinion? 103.179.230.68 (talk) 15:43, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
- It clearly says T68 is "rumoured" to be Vijay's last. So ignore it. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:53, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
Pinkvilla
Don't you intend to comment on that pinkvilla discussion anymore? Cinephile4ever 04:56, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
- I gave my verdict, that it can be used for general info. Not sensitive/subject-to-change or exceptional claims. What more to say? Kailash29792 (talk) 05:07, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
- Ok thanks Cinephile4ever 05:20, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
- But I thought you will comment on that user Archer1234's comment saying mistakes without editorial oversight would make it unreliable based on that specific article of the box office of Vikram film. Because he himself is yet to comment on that. If you feel like commenting on that, you can. Thanks. Cinephile4ever 05:23, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, I just saw your latest comment in that discussion from the edit history page. I missed it because you had replied before the section "Technical fact finding". Would you please consider moving it to the last so it can be seen as your latest comment by other users too. Thanks. Cinephile4ever 06:45, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

Word of advice?
The director of Sabari (2023 film) left me a message on my talk page (User_talk:DareshMohan#Sabari_(2023_film)). Don't want to feel threatened by it but hate how the power that these people can have. Pretty sure that actors have managers that manage their wiki, etc. DareshMohan (talk) 05:49, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

- If you detect old potential copyvio content that I cannot remember, I hope you inform Moneytrees since they seem an expert at rewriting. I was briefly blocked in 2019 for copyvio issues and have since been cautiously trying to avoid them. Kailash29792 (talk) 02:37, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- I agree that Moneytrees is good at rewriting. He rewrote the plot summary for Avan Pithana?, and I think he did a good job. After reading your message, I have since attempted to notify him directly about two other copyvios I've found - not yours, but from another user, Sangavitamilmani, who was permanently blocked a few years ago for persistent copyright violations. For the past few days, I have been looking for unaddressed copyvios in all the articles she worked on.
- It started a few days ago, on the last day of the July 2023 GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive. I was trying to snag one last bonus article; articles that were tagged in August 2022 for copyediting were worth a 50% word count bonus in last month's drive. Pasavalai was in the August 2022 list, and I'm not sure exactly why I did, but I chose to attempt copyediting on Pasavalai. In doing so, I inadvertently discovered that the article had a copyvio plot summary. After addressing the copyvio issue, I had to find a different article to copyedit because there was no copyediting to do in Pasavalai. But my curiosity had been aroused, and the next day, after the copyediting drive ended, I decided to check whether the offending user from Pasavalai had a history of copyvios. I found several copyvio warnings and a block notice at User talk:Sangavitamilmani, and the rest is history.
- I am glad to know that you learn from your mistakes and listen to what others tell you. Some people, like Sangavitamilmani, unfortunately do not, at least not before it is too late. SmileySnail (talk) 20:20, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @SmileySnail, thanks for your removals of copyvio here. You might be interested in Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/20210410, which is a overview of Sangavitamilmani's edits. I'll note that a reword isn't always necessary; there's more merit to rewriting a close paraphrase (like Kailash29792's older edits) than spending time rewriting mostly unedited pastes (Sangavitamilmani's edits). Additionally, film articles don't require plot summaries, it's fine to leave them without one. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 21:20, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, Moneytrees. That CCI report is very interesting and helpful, and I will keep it open in a browser tab as I proceed with cleaning up Sangavitamilmani's copyvio mess. The rest of your advice is also helpful, and I will be sure to remember it.
- About plot summaries in film articles, I will say that although they are not necessary, I think they are very nice to have. However, after reading your reply, I read the Wikipedia how-to page on writing plot summaries, and this section - Wikipedia:How to write a plot summary#Citations seems to be saying that writing plot summaries based solely on reading someone else's summary, without having yourself watched/read the work in question, is not a good practice. I will keep that, plus your advice in mind as I proceed with my work, and I thank you for the good work you do here. SmileySnail (talk) 23:56, 5 August 2023 (UTC)

Primary topic - name - clarity
Is Sunil (actor) the Wikipedia:Primary topic? There is Sunil (Kannada actor), which has less views. So no need to move Sunil (actor) to Sunil (Telugu actor)?

Box office
Hi, as you must be well aware, the box office reporting for Indian films is so overwhelming and pathetic. I mean there can be more than 20 box office estimates from reliable sources for the same film. Also, the difference between the lowest and highest estimates are often huge for many films, and sometimes so ridiculous. Take for example, I found new sources for lower estimates for films Bajrangi Bhaijaan and 2.0 recently, and now the range of collection for these films is 631 to 969 crores and 519 to 800 crores respectively. The difference is more than 330 crores for the former which just sounds so ridiculous. But as per the Indian cinema task force page it says giving range is preferable. For almost all American films, they only give a single box office collection as per Box Office Mojo. Can't we find any one reliable source for Indian films too or can't we give the highest estimate only or any other better solution because this is really overwhelming. What's your opinion about this? Cinephile4ever 13:48, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
- Just go with what the sources say. The most reputed ones give the most accurate info, better to stick to them. But TOI frequently falters, and beware of WP:TOI. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:49, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

Don't archive box office sources in Jailer film article
Hi, don't rescue sources relating to box office figures in the Jailer film article because they will be replaced on a daily basis till the end of the film's theatrical run. Cinephile4ever 14:58, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

chandralekha
hello, Kailash29792! i had two quick questions regarding this article and the associated blurb.
- i am unclear as to how the title of the novel by reynolds should be presented. the blurb uses "Robert Macaire: or, The French bandit in England", as does the article lead. however, the article body presents the title as "Robert Macaire, or the French Bandit in England". the article on the fictional character presents it in yet another way, referring to the novel as "Robert Macaire; or, The French Bandit in England".i am not sure if there is a standard on wikipedia regarding how works titled like this should be presented, but i know that the article on the novel frankenstein presents its title as "Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus", and i had figured that, if there was a standard, this presentation would probably be following it. this style is also used in the third example i mentioned above, and appears to be used in this image of what appears to be a copy of the title page of the novel (though i don't know for sure, as the title page uses all caps). what are your thoughts regarding how the title should be presented in the blurb?
- Ravenpuff and i were having a discussion regarding whether the picture featured in the blurb is an image of a poster or not. do you happen to be aware of whether or not it is? i admittedly am unable to read tamil myself, while i know that you have stated on your userpage that you are from a tamil-speaking family, so i am hoping that the text may reveal some clues if the rest of the image does not make it clear to you.
dying (talk) 04:53, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
