I am a graduate student at George Mason University studying US history. I also work at the Center for History and New Media, mostly on a history of science and technology database project called ECHO.

However, we are also currently involved in producing a project about open source software. We are very interested in digital, peer-produced works of history, including history articles in Wikipedia. We’d like to talk to people about their experiences working on articles in Wikipedia, in connection with a larger project on the history of the free and open source software movement. You are right. My title is misleading too. I think the true perception of the man is that he really wouldn't give a damn what color you were, as long as you kicked the other side's ass. I would imagine he was one of the less racist ones around at the time, and said exactly what he thought at that precise moment. The media was always asking him for an opinion, and he would always give a strong one, whether he really belived it or not, and off course he would be quoted on it. Remember that the time in which he lived had different ways of expressing things. We can still be racist now, but not sound as if we are! I am not too fussed about the title. I don't really like strong words such as racist... it can be true, but it can be also applied to almost anyone. What I am trying to say is that Patton is no more racist that most others. Boston Massacre

You axed: I was wondering where you might have found the information that this engraving was done by John Puford. I have done a little research on it, and believe it to be different (see my comments on the Crispus Attucks talk page. I'm curious to get to the bottom of this.

Ken, I've been trying to remember where I got the info, but I forget. (It was silly of me not to record it in the article.) I remember reading about Paul Revere beating the other engraver to the punch by being the first to publish a depiction of the massacre, but where I read that, I dunno. The "Puford" misprint likely stems from the website where I downloaded the image, and not from my source of information, which was a book or book-on-tape.
